Most Hated NHL Players of All Time

Спорт

Arguably the top Ten Most Hated NHL Players of all time. One of the greatest NHL agitators of all time was Claude Lemieux, who played for several teams and won four Stanley Cups. He was notorious for his dirty hits, trash talk, and ability to get under the skin of his opponents. He also scored some clutch goals in the playoffs, earning him the nickname "Pepe."
- Another legendary agitator was Esa Tikkanen, who played for the Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers, and other teams. He was known for his relentless forechecking, physical play, and annoying chatter in a mix of Finnish and English. He was a key part of five Stanley Cup championships and often shadowed the best players on the opposing team.
- A more recent example of a great NHL agitator is Brad Marchand, who plays for the Boston Bruins. He is one of the most skilled and productive players in the league but also the most hated. He has a reputation for diving, slew-footing, licking, punching his rivals, and trash-talking on and off the ice. He has won one Stanley Cup and two World Championships with Team Canada.@tedtalkshockey1966

You could have added the first Great star of the Habs, Edouard "Newsy" Lalonde, a man who was hated as much by his team mates as he was opposing players... He was always willing to fight anyone, on any team, including his own. Once, while coaching (Which was his after hockey career), he had so alienated his team that they began to mouth off to him in the dressing room, he warned the players that he wasn't going to allow that sort of thing and when one of the players "Got in his face" (As we would say today), the aging Lalonde took the young man down with one mighty punch, turned to his players and asked "Anyone else?" I think I should make a part two to this list as their are so many players that have earned it.I don’t think some were dirty but reacted violently to the way they were treated on the ice and lashed out in frustration and rage, Maurice Richard comes to mind. He was without question the dirtiest player I've seen, even going back to his junior days with the Toronto Marlies. He was never afraid to use the stick to spear, hack or cut your face; or run you from behind and injure you.. He had psychological problems that likely stemmed from an incident when he was 12 years old, according to one of his aunts.

@@jamesanthony5681 There was a story from one of his Birmingham teammates. Before a game against the Whalers, Durbano was sharpening the blade of his stick. The teammate asked what he was doing & he said that he was going "after the old man." The team had to beg him not to cut Gordie Howe because they were sure the whole team would be murdered before they could get out of town. To quote Rick James, "Cocaine is a helluva drug." His brother mentioned an incident when they were little that probably didn't help. I imagine it's the same one his aunt referenced. Plus his dad was a hot head. He was arrested after a junior game for waiting to run over refs with his car after a game. The guy definitely had some demons.

One of his teammates went over to see if he was OK and realized what was going on. He skated away leaving Lemieux on the ice. After a bit, Lemieux got up and skated to the Montreal bench pissed off because for as long as he lay on the ice, the trainer didn't bother to go out and check on him. Cried "wolf" too many times I guess. The Habs traded him.
