Tank Man is the nickname of an unidentified Chinese man who stood in front of a column of tanks leaving Tiananmen Square on June 5, 1989. As the lead tank maneuvered to pass by the man, he repeatedly shifted his position in order to obstruct the tank's attempted path around him. video from CNN: m.kzread.info/dash/bejne/i5l63MeHcaurmLg.html

For Russia; Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky. Can’t really say much about the book because I haven’t read it, all I know is it’s apparently a very good book and an important part of Russian literature. If I remember correctly it’s about a poor young man who kills an old woman for her money but feels remorseful and is afraid he’s going to get caught. If you don’t think that sounds good I probably just did a bad job describing it lol

I can appreciate the cultural significance of Abbey Road, but as a Brit when I think of our iconic photos I will always think of Churchill giving V signs. My personal favourite is the 1943 photo in New York as he signals to a group of cheering sailors disembarking the Queen Mary, it really encapsulates the sort of hero figure he quickly became (and still is) and him being in America after so long of Britain having bad to no relations, really well represents what was at stake for the UK.

There's an interesting story related to the Apocalypse Now photo. When the photographer Niedenthal wanted to send it to the German Newsweek, he couldn't find anyone to get the photos out of the country. Desperate, he randomly gave them to a man boarding a train to Berlin and hoped for the best. In a couple of weeks he found that they were indeed published in Newsweek, unfortunately with a glaring error: the top part of the photo, displaying the name of the cinema (Kino Moskwa, "Moscow Cinema"), was cropped, significantly reducing the impact of the picture. ...EXACTLY THE SAME ERROR AS JJ MADE IN THE VIDEO!!!!

Lex Bright Raven after the French were defeated Vietnam was divided with a communist dictatorship in the north and an anti communist dictatorship in the south. The US tried to prop up the southern state, eventually signing a peace deal with north vietnam in 1972. Not long after the north Vietnamese communists abandoned the peace deal and began a new invasion of the south, which the US basically abandoned in the wake of political turmoil at home.
