Sir, have you heard of Blue John? This gem is only found here in Castletown, Derbyshire. It’s really beautiful to look at and has many colours running through it. I think the most beautiful one is the purple parts.
I was so fortunate to discover a small jewelry store when I went to visit my mom and dad. My sweet husband told me he wanted me to buy myself a ring. So while in my hometown, I went to visit my childhood friend and told her what my husband said. Long story short, we went to the small jewelry store, I told her I was interested in a blue stone ring. The lady at the jewelry store said do you like this one? It was a large aquamarine with diamonds in a gold setting. I paid $1500. When I had it appraised, it was worth $5,000.00. 🥰🥰

I got a house full of gemstones, problem is finding real buyers and not scams or morons. Museums do not want to pay even half the worth, colleges won't help anyone anymore. I dunno where these people go sell their finds, I have a 3.4lb purple spinel sitting in my safe, where are these magic buyers?

@@johnc.hammersticks You made a comment about 6 months ago about gemstones. I don't know if you've done anything about it since then, but if you haven't, you might want to search online for certified gem appraisers. You might have one in your area or nearby. Let them know you have some gems you'd like to get appraised. Before you take the gems to the appraiser, take pictures of them in YOUR home, with you in the picture. As you mentioned, there are scammers out there, so you want proof that the gems are YOURS. But, give it a try; certainly can't hurt... Once the gems are appraised, contact Sotheby's or a reputable auction house (Google for them), and you might be able to get a legitimate buyer. Good luck to you! 🙂

Thanks for the vids. I love how gems look and I collected rocks when I was a kid.
As a certified gemologist if you are looking for rare, highly collectible investment gemstones, there are the rarest ones most knowledgeable gemstone collectors must have: spinel, zircon ( never to be confused for a cubic zirconia), paraiba tourmaline, tanzanite, black opal, padparadscha sapphire, red beryl, alexandrite to name a few.

Hey guys! Somebody who has mined Amethysts here. The amethysts are really hard to find, i was mining in the area where the only ever found shaman’s stones were found, and i found one myself.
rathnapura in sri lanka is also known as city of gems alot gems are found there each and every year since the time of kings
My maternal Greatgrandfather found a 1.000 k diamond in South Africa. It was later parted in two, and while one part became jewels the other part was just barely cut and given to my Greatgrandmother. These day my Mom ownes it.
Many years ago I had a couple Tanzanite stones. They were pretty big too! Wish I knew what I did with them, someone probably stole them...

The tanzanite rough was by far my favorite but that giant black opal is the rarest and top quality. I cut and sell gems so I have a good idea of what they sell for. That diamond is surprisingly huge, some how Tiffany and company missed buying that diamond and hiding it in a secret place to keep the diamond price sky high.

Oh an absolutely fantastic video as always 😊 The Northumberland lady, bloody hell, and just from a car boot sale too 😮😮 They literally are sales from car boots (Trunk in America?) and tables set up around them. Usually held in fields, or (horse) race courses, some are businesses, other just clearing out junk or treasures from the house, garage or garden even. Prices are often extremely low. Got myself some good bargains in the past from car boots. As to gems, I love opals myself, I think they're gorgeous with how they catch the light but I'm not interested in valuable stone jewellery for myself. Loved the jokes and fabulous animations too, particularly the Zirconimium and Boron (18:07) eyeing each other up 😂 but also the explanations and diagrams too. A true diamond of a video, thank you for the educational entertainment 💖
Once I was in San Diego and there was a guy who was selling necklaces for only $10 and I got an opal necklace just for $10🤯

My man Saniniu is crazy. He finds two huge gems worth 3.4 MILLION dollars and then decides to go back to mining instead of just retiring. And then not 3 months later he finds another one worth 2 million. He then proceeds to give back to his community in a massive way by funding a school and a hospital.

If I had unearthed one of those red Painite gems, I would NEVER sell it EVER, I would have it fashioned into a bracelet and it would never leave me, it would become part of me, red-orange is my absolute favorite colour in the world, it would be like a good luck charm, like Bobby and his black opal, the same would be for if I found an orange Melo pearl. The same can't be said though for those rubies in Dar Es Salam, I love the colour red, but I hate the colour pink. Even though they were pricy, as an actual gemstone, I would be very disappointed in them, they would be sold instantly, they look like hard bubble gum.
