When I first came to work and live in Spain in 2005, I had an intermediate level of Spanish, despite having a Spanish mother and having passed the AS Level Spanish exam. I quickly found out the hard way how limited my Spanish language skills were. I had to learn fast and it hurt! Above all, it hurt my jaw and muscles in my face were aching for about 6 months! Regarding some classic gaffs in Spanish, there are some words that can cause outbursts of laughter if you use them incorrectly. I made the mistake to say: "me está echando un polvo" instead of "estoy hecho polvo". The word "polvo" can have a few interesting meanings...

Me alegra que te he encontrado, porque has sido mucho tiempo que lo he practicado el español. A pesar de tener certificación universitaria en español, creo que lo hablo muy mal. Ha sido casi 3 años que he usado español con mucha frecuencia. Durante la pandemia, no tenía que usar español en mi vida diaria, que he olvidado mucho. A veces cuando leo mis papeles universitarios, no puedo recordar unas palabras.

Omg, it's the same with preservatives in my native language (Bulgarian), also other similarities I can relate and can't say here. Must admit on my second lesson on Preply, I said to my profesora, 'Estoy caliente' and funnily enough, she said to me tomorrow we will learn about the weathers and topics surrounding that

In Croatian 'trudna' means 'pregnant' but in old Slovene it means 'tired'. :D

Hmmm yo he oído a mi madre decir: “no me calientes” (no me enfades) o “me tienes calentita” (me tienes enfadada) 😂👍🏻 pero caliente tal cual nunca lo hd oído, lo malinterpretaría seguro!

​@@patryruiz.En República Dominicana mi país si dices que estás "caliente " es que estás borracho. Especialmente si ven o estás en un lugar donde vendan bebidas alcohólicas. Si hace calor solo decimos "tengo calor".
