Most Effective Way to Get Rid of Termites Yourself

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Whether you hire a professional or do it yourself to treat termites, you'll likely be facing a choice between two popular options - a baiting system vs. a barrier system. These two options are actually for VERY different scenarios. Lots of information on the internet, but some of it is simply wrong. The video is created based upon thorough research and hands-on experience. It'll show you all the information you need to make your best choice. For detailed information, please find it at www.wikiDIYer.org

    I work for Terminix and assure you the tech installing the system has no clue how the product works. Most of the guys will tell the customer that once they take bait to the colony, they will begin to die. Now on the rare occasion customer wants to know the active ingredient, they tell customer that all products used are listed on the service receipt that was done that day. Well in theory that is what should happen!

    I am a pest control professional. Taurus is my top choice for liquid termiticide. It is not effective on its own because subterranean termites are under the ground and may never contact the soil that has been treated at the foundation. Spectracide stakes are great for identifying you do have termites and where they can be found, but as stated in the video, they are not very efficient at eliminating a colony quickly. I occasionally use these along with Advance termite monitoring stations and Trelona bait cartridges. I will also sometimes use foam spry in voids in basement wall. Using this products in connection with one another FOLLOWING THE LABEL you can get rid of your termites. BUT Taurus can be a very dangerous product so use with caution.

  • @Bruehoyt

    @Bruehoyt

    Ай бұрын

    For consumers I recommend using the Spectracide stakes and Home Defense both available at hardware stores. If the stakes trigger, check to see if it is erosion or termites and call a professional if you find termites or are unsure. A local pest control professional will take better care of you and will likely cost less than a big company. Ask to see their license.

    Use Termidor HE. Taurus SC uses the same formulation as the older Termidor SC. Baiting system is good but more maintenance. If you get a proper barrier around the house and treat the indoor plumbing areas you will be good to go. This is of course assuming you have a slab foundation. I do pest control in South Texas so this situation is very common. I'm familiar with both but I lean towards the liquid treatment.

  • @Bruehoyt

    @Bruehoyt

    It is mostly good advice. There are better monitors available online (better does mean more money too). As Vinnie said, other products work well too. Note Vinnie is in south Texas. I am in Ohio. he might be dealing with drywood termites. I only deal with subterranean termites.

    You MUST treat the active areas first. Spot treating works very well and fast. Most pest control companies will not guarantee bait stations or liquid until the active damage it addressed. These products take a minimum of 30 days to start becoming effective.

Product will seep/drain lower than the dug depth, digging the trench next to the concrete foundation will concentrate the mix next to the home where it can drain to deeper depths. The trench is a containment area and focuses the drainage into the soil.
