Today was my first time visiting the Brainard Rec Area. It did not start well because I didn't have a Time-Entry Reservation, so I had to park in the parking lot near the gate and hike 2.5 miles to get to the Brainard Rec Area.
The Brainard Lake Trail was literally a swamp with several hidden lagoons and grass all the way up my legs. That was streams of water throughout that initial 1.5 miles, which caused trees and logs to cave in because of the amount of water. The trail was not clearly marked and I had to literally rely on my previous Army experience in Land Nav as well as Survival just to trek it. By far, one of the worst trails that I've ever hiked.
If you're going to the Brainard Rec Area, please get a Time Entry Reservation to avoid hiking a 5-mile round trip there and back.

• 8 sets of waterfalls
• 10 snow fields (on average 3 - 3.5 feet high)
• 45,595 Steps
• 18.59 miles
I had a blast today and was only planning to cover the 13.59 miles of trailheads, but that extra 5 miles were a beast.
