Hey guys, there is a mysterious ancient structure in Gujarat. What is it? Archeologists and historians tell us a standard story: This is called Rani Ki Vav, it is a step well, built for the locals, so the locals can get down these steps and draw water from this well. But you are about to learn that this is not a step well, but it was built for a completely different reason.
What you are looking at is one of its kind. It is an inverted, negative, temple. Some fancy words, you may think.
A typical Hindu temple starts with ground level, has some steps going up to increase its height or altitude gradually. Finally, at the tower area, starts with a large base, and then ends up have a pointy end at the top, right? Now, Rani Ki Vav is designed exactly the opposite way, it starts with the ground level, slowly starts to decrease its altitude, you gradually go down, and at this area, it starts with a larger top, but ends up having a pointy end at the very bottom.
Maybe I can do better, so here, we are making a model of Rani Ki Vav, imagine this foam is the piece of land, and I am starting to carve the steps here, and then there is a flat area here, and then I carve more steps, then a flat area, and so on. And at the far end, I have made a deep, so called “well” which gradually reduces in its radius towards the bottom. If you look at this model, it looks very much like Rani Ki Vav. But in order to see the negative temple, we have to fill up the empty space, and see what happens.
So, I have taken some plaster of paris, and I am going to fill up the empty space. I am filling up everything and kind of levelling up at the ground level. The plaster of paris is, now, slowly solidifying inside the empty space. In a few minutes, it completely solidifies. Now, remember, I told you it is an inverted negative temple. So, I have to invert this model. Now let me cut off the foam, and see how the solidified empty space looks. The foam represents the positive material and I am slowly, slowly removing it. As I am doing it, you can start to understand that it looks very much like a Hindu temple. Let me clean up the foam sticking on it, and you can see for yourself. This is not just looking similar to an ancient temple; it is looking identical to a typical ancient temple. I have just proved my theory that Rani Ki Vav is not a step well, but an inverted negative temple. If you go to most ancient temples, you will see steps rising in altitude, then there will be a small shrine called a mandapa, then there will be more steps, leading to more mandapas, and at the far end, you will see a giant tower with a pointed top.
This is exactly what we see here. If we exclude the minor details, and look at the macro model, there is no doubt that it was built as a negative, inverted temple and no other temple has ever been built like this, not only in India, but in the whole world. So, what we are looking at is actually a wonder of the world. No one has understood that this is such a temple in the last few centuries, I think I am the first one to understand this.
How did I realize it was a Negative temple? I visit hundreds of ancient sites, and the energy and vibration in every place is usually very positive and peaceful. However, our entire team became very negative as we entered this site. They felt anger and sorrow, they blamed it on the weather and other things but I could feel the negativity get more and more intense as I went deeper and deeper into the structure. This is the exact opposite of what happens when you visit a positive temple. Typically, in a Hindu temple, as you walk towards the main chamber your positivity increases and you reach a calm, joyful state when you are in the main chamber. You can easily dismiss this as pseudoscience but we have all had at least one instance where we met a negative person, but we did not trust our instinct and paid for it.

A good possibility of why there is no husband statue, the energy of the place could be the husband. I don't mean a ghost or a haunting, but from what i understand sound and energy are a huge part of these ancient sites. Please keep these videos coming.

I can believe it, some incredible architecture in India, some real lost technology. Very special place and people, I've always liked Indian people and the many many cultures from India that I have met here in NZ

True. In Hampi, Karnataka, an entire stepwell like this was covered during islamic invasions. Lots of temples covered, hidden to protect from abrahamic invaders.

Indonesian here, i enjoyed watching many of your videos and sees many wonderful ancient temples in India, I hope you could come and make videos about Bali`s pura (temples) as well, because as you know Bali is the last stronghold of Hinduism in Indonesia, I believe they had some great insight as well in their temples just like in India

What an absolutely insane piece of work. Why in the world did they build this place? How in the world did they build it. Mind boggling like so many ancient Indian constructions. If anyone wants to destroy Sanatana Dharma (Hinduism) , first they must destroy temples. After many invasions, we still stand strong just because of our temples. Why? Because temples have been real positive sources of our existence and each temple has its own functionality (according to previous videos of Mr. Praveen). They might have tried a new way to build a temple. Something uniquely done.
It is so sad that my culture which is the western world never teaches us about all the amazing ancient temples, building and knowledge/teaching of your ancestors. They were so far advanced from other cultures but the knowledge has been completely disregarded in the western world. Thank you for your fabulous videos.

I visited this temple in 2007 and man I still feel the negative feeling. I still remember it coz I have visited it multiple times and dont know how I always felt the same. Similarly I felt the same feeling when I visited Agrasen ki bawli in Delhi in 2016. Can the two structures be related ? I am feeling so intrigued and in kind of way feeling good knowing that I could actually sense the vibes of the place even in 4th or 5th standard.. ❤❤ Hats off to your analysis.. Great work..

@@everdinestenger1548 I visited the place in 2018. I sat on the stairs deep inside the Stepwell for around 15 minutes. Couldn't access the water. Took some pictures. It was dark, quiet and cold inside. Nothing Positive for sure. But no Bad influence either.

India is filled with so many unbelievable archaeological structures surrounded by such mystique that even someone like myself who doesn’t like to travel feels almost compelled to visit the country some day just to see them firsthand.
Fascinating as always! Thank you. Rani ki Vav is a UNESCO world heritage site and on the UNESCO page it says it is 'designed as an inverted temple highlighting the sanctity of water'. The stepwell is also a design printed on hundred rupee notes in India.

It's incredible these places exist and have been completely ignored, I'm probably more knowledgeable about ancient temples and structures around the world than your average American as I've been interested for a long time, but I never heard of this place, once again India is a treasure trove of ancient history that cannot be denied. I admire Praveen, he gets to travel the world and show people these beautiful temples and structures, he gives his opinion/hypothesis on the sites. I'm an adult, I can form my own opinion on these sites and Praveen's opinion without some other idiot telling me why he's wrong.

It’s interesting that you mention 7 layers for this temple. As per ancient texts, there are 7 worlds below the feet - Athala, Vithala, Suthala, Rasaathala, Thalaathala, Mahaathala and Paathaala. Also all these worlds are negative in energy with Pathaala being the lowest energy. Makes me wonder is this temple is dedicated to these 7 underworlds. Very nice presentation. Out of 14, 7 upper relms and 7 lower relms. We are in the 7th relm. Those who open 7 chakras of Human body can move through 7 upper relms. 5th relm is the Deva Lokha the relm of Elemental/Demi Gods. 1st lokha is where Brahma meditate to create the planets and stars, time moves differently in each Relms(refer Hindu units of time). So humans who are less materialistic and by his karma move through these relms. If we are highly materialistic we go down to 7 lower relms.

This is absolutel amazing! Positive and negative construction are new terms for me. In Computer Aided Drawing (CAD), yes, we can add or remove material (or merging or spliting) and ancient people already knew such concept. Amazing! Keep up the great work. Just imagine the sheer amount of efforts in building a place like this more than thousand years ago. If you know engineering and think about the building process from the start it is absolutely mind numbing. The planning of the temple, the drafting of drawings, making a blueprint or a raw model on paper or whatever they used at that time, making plans on what to do and when to do it, calculating angles so that they dont mess anything after they have started building the temple and this is all in just the early stages, imagine the sculptors who have carved this in such detail that it almost looks 3d printed somewhat, imagine the sheer amount of skillfulness needed to carve each and every nook and cranny to such high level of detail without any modern tools.

Never heard about Rani ki vav. Such an elaborate technical structure built in 11 century as wiki says. Also looks like it needed lot of funds. Even now , if you built it , people would consider it ..amazing Thanks for bringing it to our notice 👍
This temple is a true test of your adherence within the heart space within...this is the true test of true devotion...to withstand all the negative or positive vibrations that arise within...the inner state is our feeling heart...going into this sacred place does not mean you will not feel the negativity,but rather to accept everything that arises within ,good or bad,light or dark and to face/feel it all in a state of "equanimity!"This Temple is a man made test of this truth!

Speak for yourself. Here’s an actual explanation of the site by actual historian’s. Rani-ki-Vav (the Queen’s Stepwell) at Patan, Gujarat Rani-ki-Vav, on the banks of the Saraswati River, was initially built as a memorial to a king in the 11th century AD. Stepwells are a distinctive form of subterranean water resource and storage systems on the Indian subcontinent, and have been constructed since the 3rd millennium BC. They evolved over time from what was basically a pit in sandy soil towards elaborate multi-storey works of art and architecture. Rani-ki-Vav was built at the height of craftsmens’ ability in stepwell construction and the Maru-Gurjara architectural style, reflecting mastery of this complex technique and great beauty of detail and proportions. Designed as an inverted temple highlighting the sanctity of water, it is divided into seven levels of stairs with sculptural panels of high artistic quality; more than 500 principle sculptures and over a thousand minor ones combine religious, mythological and secular imagery, often referencing literary works. The fourth level is the deepest and leads into a rectangular tank 9.5 m by 9.4 m, at a depth of 23 m. The well is located at the westernmost end of the property and consists of a shaft 10 m in diameter and 30 m deep. Rani-ki-Vav is an exceptional example of a distinctive form of subterranean water architecture of the Indian subcontinent, the stepwell, which is located on the banks of the Saraswati River in Patan. Initially built as a memorial in the 11th century CE, the stepwell was constructed as a religious as well as functional structure and designed as an inverted temple highlighting the sanctity of water. Rani-ki-Vav is a single-component, water management system divided into seven levels of stairs and sculptural panels of high artistic and aesthetic quality. It is oriented in an east-west direction and combines all of the principle components of a stepwell, including a stepped corridor beginning at ground level, a series of four pavilions with an increasing amount of storeys towards the west, the tank, and the well in tunnel shaft form. More than five hundred principle sculptures and over a thousand minor ones combine religious, mythological and secular imagery, often referencing literary works. Rani-ki-Vav impresses not only with its architectural structure and technological achievements in water sourcing and structural stability, but also in particular with its sculptural decoration, of true artistic mastery. The figurative motifs and sculptures, and the proportion of filled and empty spaces, provide the stepwell’s interior with its unique aesthetic character. The setting enhances these attributes in the way in which the well descends suddenly from a plain plateau, which strengthens the perception of this space. Rani-ki-Vav is preserved with all its key architectural components and, despite missing pavilion storeys, its original form and design can still be easily recognized. A majority of sculptures and decorative panels remain in-situ and some of these in an exceptional state of conservation. Rani-ki-Vav is a very complete example of the stepwell tradition, even though after geotectonic changes in the 13th century it does no longer function as a water well as a result of the change to the Saraswati River bed. It was however the silting of the flood caused during this historic event, which allowed for the exceptional preservation of Rani-ki-Vav for over seven centuries. All components including the immediate surrounding soils which adjoin the vertical architecture of the stepwell are included in the property. In terms of intactness, the property does not seem to have experienced major losses since its flooding and silting in the 13th century. However, Patan like many Indian urban centres is experiencing rapid urban growth and the western expansion of the city towards Rani-ki-Vav has to be carefully controlled to protect the integrity of the property in the future. Authenticity Rani-ki-Vav has a high level of authenticity in material, substance, design, workmanship and, to a certain extent, atmosphere, location and setting. While it maintained its authentic material and substance, it also required some punctual reconstructions for structural stability. In all instances reconstructed elements were only added where structurally required to protect remaining sculpture, and they are indicated by smooth surfaces and a lack of decoration which can be easily distinguished from the historic elements. Around the outer terrace at ground level, slopes of smooth descent, a so-called sacrificial terrace, were created to prevent soil erosion following stronger rain falls. Unfortunately the Rani-ki-Vav cannot retain authenticity in use and function as a result of the altered ground water levels following the relocation of Saraswati River.

Yes!.. Praveen’s explanation makes more sense!.. It couldn’t have been a step well cause the final part where there is actually water, it looks like sheer drop!.. The levels seem to end abruptly in the circle and there are no gradual steps. It’s like 15 feet gap between each levels with no steps.

Thank you for the update, Praveen..!! The best 15 minutes spent today..!! I have never heard of any inverted temples until now. The ancient Indian builders are the true masters of the grand archeological marvels. I still wonder if they were built by the deities themselves. I'm also wondering how the builders were able to stop the ground water from penetrating through the stone walls for hundreds, or thousands of years, because that is still very difficult to prevent today.
These architectural marvels proves that the employees of that time had more practical and experimental knowledge than today's so called degree holders. Thank you, Mr. Praveen. You changed our perception towards temples and their significance. Jai Hind!
I have been to Rani-ni-Vaav several times. And 1 of the things i heard was it being designed as an inverted temple. But never have i or any1 i know felt any negativity.

I am from Gujarat and i would like you to investigate one more such Vav in Ahmedabad - Dada Harir’s Vav. It is a similar type of construction (i guess as i am not an archaeological expert) and there are actual documents available regarding its origin so it might help.

I always look at the stonework. Certain aspects of old, unexplained monuments are found throughout the world. Multi-angled, precisely cut and expertly arranged stones are a dead giveaway, and mores the better if no bonding agent can be detected.

Thanks Mr. Mohan for this clip which itself is a technological wonder from the ancient times. Never heard of a negative temple before. I was amazed and aghast that such a temple or structure exists here which has more secrets to its credit than what it actually reveals perhaps. Wow, how can you know there is an ether medium if it is beyond human perception? I thought the ether was a hypothetical substance imagined to permeate all space pre Einstein's theory of relativity - a figment of the imagination created to plot the relative positions of objects in space before they understood their relation in terms of relativity. In the reading I have enjoyed on the topic, Einstein's theory of relativity did away with the imagined ether altogether. Well, we live and learn! I look forward to reading about the return of the illusive ether and the events which led to Einstein's work being overturned!

Thank you sir and I appreciate the gesture for pointing my mistake. Well at the outset you are mistaken if you think I intend to overturn any fact or theories. Let me be clear I am not a researcher nor do I belong to any scientific community. Whatever I mentioned on seeing the clip was just a casual effort by a ordinary viewer. Pertinent to say I read a book and saw some reports on the net where there as some conflicting views on this topic. Some were in favour and some against. Taking a cue I surmised it as ‘may be or may not be’ since am not in a position to judge who’s right or who’s wrong and hence used the term ‘eather’ in a simple casual manner nothing more or nothing less.
Maybe there was an ancient technology used to build ancient buildings. I wonder if the temples in Mexico used the ancient technology and could crystals and precious metals the sun ,stars and moon have been used as a generator of energy.

Thank you, Praveen, for your video on such a beautiful structure. Rani ki Vav is definitely a step well. Western India is an arid region with low rainfall. There have been many droughts in the past in this region. There has been a tradition to build such step wells in this area to conserve water , prevent evaporation to the extent possible, and also provide a shaded area for rest to a weary traveler. It was built by a Solanki queen. This dynasty ruled that area of Gujarat for a long time with Anhilpur Patan as the capital, which is today's Patan located close to the Vav. I have been there. It is an awesome manmade structure. Whenever I have been there, I have only felt awe at the craftsmanship and not negative energy, as you mention. There are such structures in other parts of Gujarat and Rajasthan, too. The other famous ones are Adalaj and Dada Hari vav in Ahmedabad, which are visited by many tourists. Vav or stepwell is part of the folklore of Gujarat. You will find many references in its literature.

the builders were very great and curious...nothing was left to chance...and they experimented a lot in the temples...in energies and how it helped enlightenment...pure experimentation...excellent as always praveen you are my teacher in the great mysteries of india
