I honestly hate that you can take a perfectly fine dog to the vets and be like yeah I don't want it anymore kill it. It should be completely illegal. You get in trouble if you kill a dog when you don't want it anymore but if you take it to the vets that's okay?? That's ridiculous

I'm not disagreeing at all, but it doesn't exactly work that way. They will only put the dog down if nobody else will claim it as an owner and they'll charge you out the ass which Actually makes that one case even worse in my opinion. That means that woman probably paid a couple hundred bucks out of spite to have that dog put down. Dog's are man's best friend, but the way we treat them is a good reflection of the real monsters we are

When my parent's divorced my dad got this well-known mgtow attorney, and tried to make my mom look like a nut. Also you can't really speak about what you would do as if that is what their mother could have done. We don't know enough about their situation to know what was possible. Plus, be real, if it got to the point of divorce and father stealing the kids, how would talking (even if before the divorce) would change anything?

I was in retail from the ages of 16 to 26, I thought it would be easier when I got promoted but it just got worse, I quit and started work in a factory much more money with about 25% of the effort of a retail supervisor position, you see the absolute worst of people working in the retail or service industry

This really does put a very very dark blotch on the legal system. So much evidence of the worst that people can do to people they used to "love", so many cases where the worst case comes true and gets out scott free and with all the good party's money. It makes me sick to my stomach.

I was a child that was involved by a messy divorce. They kept trying to fight each other over who got my brother and I. Not 50/50 but full time no compromise. Gotta say both options suck and was happy when I was able to be on my own soon as I could. She emptied out all the bank account, all cash savings and didn't pay mortgage payments for months leading up to her leaving. My dad always threatened to send me to live with my mom. Never forgot to remind me all the time when I didn't do exactly what he wanted that "I am the one that didn't leave" or "do you want me to leave you like your mom did?". She just straight up didn't want anything to do with her kids or being a married woman. She pulled the"I got married Young I never got to live" line every time the slightest mention of coming to live with her. Also she was sure to keep a super small apartment untill my brother and I were both over the age of 18. I kid you not, a couple months after I (younger) turned 18 she moves into a big house and gets married. Still doesn't "have room". Come to think of it, both parents can go and duck off.

Glad you're in a better place and I sincerely hope you're able to toss both of them into the places they deserve for their end-of-life care. Show them the exact level of care and love they showed you in life and leave 'em to rot like they did you and your brother as much as legally possible.

The lawyer telling the women claim he was abusive is in fact a common thing in divorce and child custody cases.

Not a lawyer but a friend of mine had been married to a woman who liked it rough (choking and things like that) they got divorced and she used the marks made from this to say he was abusive

I honestly think there should be more mental stability and mental health checks, like required before you get licenses and stuff. Especially marriage, first terms of pregnancies, and before divorce proceedings, and then have the correct methods to work with people who aren't in the best states.

The difficult thing is, at what point does it become a violation of human rights? To tell two people, "No, you can't get married," or "No, you can't have kids" --that last one is especially contentious, as it can very easily become eugenics.

Loss of Consortium as a claim can include absolutely anything that partners can no longer provide to the relationship as a result of the supposed damages caused by the subject accident/tort. It's a total BS misconception that it only includes sex. As a matter of fact, those claims are nearly always filed citing loss of physical intimacy AND a dozen or so other things (emotional or physical support, household chores, etc.) I've been a paralegal for almost 25 years and it drives me crazy when people talk about Loss of Consortium claims like they only include sex. It's one of those things that gets blown out of proportion and people think it's funny so they make up stupid scenarios like the one in this video. That may happen, but it's so rare as to not even be a relevant side note. I swear people hear something that may include sex and act like 7 year olds on a bus whispering to each other. Lol.

My poor son's future ex-wife has falsely accused him of assault after SHE attacked HIM. She wasn't arrested because her 14 year old daughter lied and told the cops that it was her that attacked my son, not her mother. It was both of them, actually. Luckily for him, she's not too bright. Somehow, injuries showed up AFTER the alleged assault and she tried to claim it was from THE incident. That didn't work, so she showed up to court with even newer injuries and also posted those on Facebook. She posted her own evidence AGAINST her claim. When this finally goes to court, they'll have no trouble being able to show that the injuries she's claiming my son did to her, occurred well after the fact. Also, she's been arrested twice, for assaulting him in the past and both times a weapon was involved. His lawyer told him this is his "dream case". My son is devastated, but this WILL all work out in the end. I'm just glad she's so stupid.

He just found out that she told the officers he punched her in the face, over and over, with his right hand. He didn't fight back so he didn't have ANY marks on his hands. The ONLY injuries the officers saw, that night, was on HIM! They broke his nose, gave him a black eye, and hit him with something hard, over and over, causing him to need stitches on his head. Also, the injury that showed up on her face, later, was on the right side of her face, but should have been on the left side, according to her statement. Also, she claimed that he also punched her daughter, but her daughter told the police he never touched her. They didn't have enough time to get their stories straight before being interviewed by the police! He didn't know, until reading the report, that his dog bit her. He was so happy to hear that his dog tried to help and he believes that's probably what made them stop attacking him. He never got to see that dog again, though. She's probably gotten rid of him, by now. She's done that, in the past, solely out of spite. He's pretty heartbroken that he'll never get to see Buddy again. He was such a good dog. And he could sure use a doggie friend, right now. He's so sad and can't stop thinking about all this, but at least he has a good attitude. Instead of dwelling on revenge, he's only looking to the future and glad this sham of a marriage is over. He finally gets to have friends, again, and be his own man. I couldn't be more proud of my son. The saddest part of all, is that EVERYONE he talks to, has either gone through this same kind of bullshit, or knows someone that has. Why isn't this a much more rare phenomenon?? I hope the judge makes an example out of her.

I Lust Wanted To Play Like Now Prenups can be thrown out of court pretty easily. For a legal document that is so expensive, you would think that a contestation of signing under duress would do far less damage. If the opposing lawyer says that the prenup was signed under duress, essentially the person was being rushed to sign or being distracted while signing or several other ways, then the prenup is invalid and you own a very expensive stack of absolutely useless papers. If you don’t want to risk losing - at best sometimes - half your stuff, stay single. If you have to get married, either sell everything you had before the marriage (this is called clean slate and is perfectly legal) and rebuild your lives together, or give everything to charity and travel until a new lifestyle strikes your fancy. Those are legal choices to make that your SO can’t use against you. Giving to a charity can also be something as simple as signing ownership to a god/grandchild and then being the warden of the property or company until they are old enough to run it themselves. Other person can’t touch what isn’t yours, no matter how much responsibility you hold - only on what you owe. Let me get stupid wealthy before my second marriage, my god kids will be set for life and I’ll just run things until they are old enough to make do.

I work at a factory, we make like 70,000-100,000 a year. So many people with divorces where they have to give up half or all of their pension work there until they die.

This is why my partner and I have a kind-of notarized prenup. I have no inklings that we will ever split, but there are things of theirs that are not worth anything in terms of money, but are absolutely priceless in terms of what they mean and I have things with similar value. So if we ever go our separate ways, we have a piece of paper saying I get to keep my grandmother's mixing bowls and I will not lay a finger on their childhood stuffed animals or their pet rabbit.

You should have kept after the divorse stuff thing got pretty funny.

If I ever get married, I would have a strict set of ground rules, and video tape the discussion between me and my spouse. Whatever is purchased with joint accounts, WILL be split between us, as that is both of our funds. Whatever is purchased with our personal accounts, WILL NOT be up for splitting. I really don't want kids for a while until I'm certain that the marriage will work out, so that shouldn't be an issue, and pets should be a joint custody thing, unless my spouse has no interest in having to take care of the animal. Vehicles will be split to who the car is registered under, and if it is under both of our names, then we will share it depending on what type of car it is and how far apart it is. If i don't really like it, we will get is registered under her name. I really don't understand why these divorces can get so messy. Just act like a fucking adult for once. And this is a young teen saying this, and I am probably the most immature person you will meet.

Probably. That's the thing about Reddit, a lot of these stories are made up, and since truth can be stranger than fiction, it can be really hard to tell who's lying and who isn't. Some of these are so outrageously out there, however, that it's kinda obvious. Like I said in another comment just above this one, Reddit is pretty much just one big game of "Snowflake, Satire, or Sock?".
