Only a half day trip today. Went and checked out one of my old favorite spots today. Much of the grass is gone but it is still holding fish.
Жүктеу.....

It's still nice but not what it used to be. 2 years ago the grass was very thick all through the south lagoon. It seem to be slowly coming back.

"Mullet Heads" are one of the best big Redfish baits, especially on that end of Mosquito Lagoon. That was fun to watch.

Great job, I’m thinking of a purchasing kayak to fish there. Were you using the mullet as cut bait? Thanks!

Buy used so you can get your money back decide to upgrade or if you find out kayaking isn't for you. Cut bait works well for those big reds in the hot afternoon.

Were you fishing the bottom waiting for the reds to take the bait or drifting and letting the bait bump around along the bottom?

Used to anchor up on the shallow grass flats and wait for the schools of reds to find me. Now all that grass is dead and gone. I can only find the big reds around Haulover now.

You can catch big reds and black drum in and near the mouths of haulover because of the deep water and rock piles on the bottom. There isn't much grass in that area. You need to go to the north lagoon if you're looking for grass flats.

Hey did you cast those baits in deeper water or in the shallow flats? That time of year to cast baits now that it’s gettin’ hotter.

I tend to fish deeper in the summer but these fish were in 16". Twice while fighting the larger fish he got stuck nose down in the dirt with his tail out of the water waving at me. It's hard to see with the wide angle footage. I really need to start taking note of the water temperature.

How deep of water are you in? Nice fish.

"Procure" shrimp flavor. It definitely helps with the bite.
