In Clayton County Georgia (South of Atlanta) there is a historical marker on a suburban road honoring one of Mosby's men. He was captured by yankees and offered his life in return for information about Mosby's Rangers. The Southern hero chose to be hung instead. The marker says that he gave his life so that his fellow Rangers would live. May he rest in peace.

I am related by blood to John S Mosby. It was only by happenstance when I inquired with my Dad as to why my Grandfather was named William Mosby Chappalear www.legacy.com/obituaries/washingtonpost/obituary.aspx?pid=2794487 that I had stumbled onto it. My grandfather was born in 1916 and Mosby died in 1916. Both were born and died within 100 miles of each other in northern Virginia. I still remember the day I saw the picture of Mosby as a young man on WIkipedia and then looked at a picture of my grandfather, that I have to this day, at approximately the same age and then I knew it on a real level. They looked like twins, exact twins. We are French Huguenots and they came to settle that part of Virginia in the early 1700's. They were rebels from the start. I've read extensively about Mosby and his unbelievable valor and fearlessness. My grandfather had a similar temperament and did not suffer fools gladly. He had that same piercing look that could drill down into you but he also had a charisma that could win over anyone and he engendered a fierce loyalty to those who knew him. He was brave and though small in stature, his wit which was dangerous and cunning more than made up for it. I'm not sure why people should be ashamed of having relatives that fought for the South. I, for one, am deeply proud of my heritage and am taking this moment to tip my cap to not only Mosby and my own grandfather, but to all who fought for their fellow countrymen and defended our way of life. It's very unpopular to salute these brave men but I don't care. They were right. Dixie will rise again.

I grew up in the Shenandoah Valley in Winchester Virginia. His accent sounds very much like many of the people there.

This is an impressive and well researched video. I especially like the attention to detail, both in the background sounds and in the variety of pictures. Colonel Mosby would be proud indeed.

The narrator's accent is ''spot on''as the English would say.I love to hear the authority on T.J.''Stonewall''Jackson,professor James'Bud'Robertson speak. There aren't many true Virginia accents you hear on T.V.anymore.

i could agree with you, but there's no telling what the southern accent is. maybe it's just a bad lower shenandoah valley accent. thanks for the comment.

Cheap shot on your part, you didn't have to be a Mason to win high rank, but you did successfully reveal your own ignorance.
