Thanks for sharing that Sandy. I stumbeled through trying to make my own once. I used a syringe to pump the epoxy in. Not an easy task and what I mess I made. I may attempt this in the future as I'd love to say I made the mosaic pins. I really like those brass liners. Boy do they ever make the knife pop. They looked awesome.

Yes, nice work & great pointers. ThankQ! I was shooting my guns & got the idea to use the spent brass casings from my bullets. The .223 ammo works best because of the length & width, I use the .22 long ammo casings for the inside w/black powder in the resin, copper &/or stainless steel rod inside the .22 long casings gives a good look.. It's also handy that 1 side of the casing remains closed so the glue doesn't pour out. Before using, I give the casings a good soak in a bowl of hot soapy water, rinse & air dry outside in the Florida sun to remove any remaining gunpowder. It saves $ & looks great. After the resin is dry i simply cut off that closed end using the cut off wheel from my angle grinder, the Dremel cut off wheel also work's good.

Always good to see the current techniques and how they have progressed over time. Heh jynx!!! Was just doing something similar with my drill this morning but for hidden pins. Ment to say awhile back , realy like your sandpaper storage idea beside the vice. I have mine setup on a long bar like a toilet roll holder and have the paper hanging down, pinned under a long planer blade screwed to the wall. Think ill have to incorporate that idea in with mine, very handy. Those brass liners look very elegant! What works great also is copper, especialy with black woods, like ebony, african blackwood and zircote! For the leak in the valve, if its in the threads you can unscreww it and add PTFE tape to the threads. But if its the valve itself change it ASAP, pressure pots are known to blow as soon as theyre faulty!

Definitely prefer the trinity pins. Look so much more elegant and not so utilitarian. Amazing work Sandy

Beautiful Sandy. Love the brass liners. I'm doing that at the minute on a stag handled piece. But I messed up when cutting the brass and I think I might have to start over.

Those brass liners look amazing! Very nice indeed. BTW, maybe a quick tip, but pre-zip your your zip ties (get them close to the size you need) so you can easily slip them over the folded tube and pull tight, with that messy job it might it a bit easier.

When we're talking about things of beauty such as Jacklores I don't think the few grammes the brass liners will add to usual weights will upset anyone . Everything comes with a price Sandy , even such elegance. I think the last 'pin' vid I saw had you syringing the epoxy in . This way looks like an efficient innovation . Brass liners eh , those snazzy 'white horse' pins we saw eh , eh ! You can be a bad man Sandy J . 'My name is Will - I be a knifeaholic' ...

Hi Sandy great video mate! I was thinking if you heat the outer tube wouldn’t expand enough to fit the inners? Just a thought you might want to try. I love the brass liners and if I had to chose I would go with tapered tang and thicker brass liners. I believe when you split wood having the brass liners to act as a hard barrier before the handle it’s an advantage. It would prevent damage by having the log close to it when batoning.

Do you ever do epoxy colours other than black for your mosaic pins ? Also have you ever had any mosaic pins show any weakness versus mechanical bond of Corby or Loveless bolts ? All of your videos are addictive and I can see I will end up watching each and every one (who needs sleep ?)

Thanks for this. I'm in the process of fitting wooden scales to a kitchen knife whose handle has disintegrated. In another video the fella "peened" the pins, by bashing them at the ends to make them mushroom out and thus hold the scales in place, is that strictly necessary as it's not something I've seen you do?

Is the process of reducing 4 x inners easier than reducing the I.D. of the pin tube x 1?

Thanks for sharing. I have made some mosaicpins in a simular way....but if you really take all materials and time spend to make them into account i very much doubt these self made pins are very cost effective.
