I really like how you go through all of Sonia's endings while explicitly stating they aren't canon and what the actual canon is. It really helps showing the actual events so the viewer knows what the story is and the what ifs if things diverged.

I always felt that even if some endings aren't canon they still say something important about those characters.

Just wanna thank Liz for not only being the very 1st Sonya, but agreeing to be motion captured! She was another great Badass fighting game gal! Not only was she tough as nails, she was only matched by her beauty! ❤

While Sonya was never a personal favorite of mine, I still appreciated the character as one of the MK staples and one of the primary heroes of the series. For me, she stands alongside Street Fighter's Chun Li as one of the first ladies of fighting games. Great to have MK1s characters complete for Untold Legends. With MK2s characters also completed, the earliest one we got now is Sheeva from MK3.

Chun-Li was actually a huge driver for the MK devs to create more female characters. Chun-Li was incredibly popular among fans and it made them stay competitive. MK and Street Fighter at the time were competing for the fighting game crown.

Interesting that in the first MK game, Sonya is the only fighter that wears different color outfit in the game. All the six male fighters all wear the same color even in their alternate outfit, Liu Kang still wears black pant but lighter, Johnny Cage wear black short but lighter, Raiden still wear white overall but darker, Kano still wear white overall but lighter, Sub-Zero still wears blue but darker, and Scorpion still wears yellow but darker. Sonya on the other hand if both players choose her, the second player will get Sonya in a red outfit instead of green making her the only character where color doesn't define her unlike the rest.

The guard at 10:02 immediately turned into Butt Head when Sonya asked him to pull her pants down 😂

Your channel is so criminally underrated it hurts. I didn't have any interest in MK nor Metroid before I saw some of your videos. Now I know everything about it. Plus, the green glowing Mandarin stuff Johnny Cage passed onto Cassie could easily be linked to the Green Lantern powers (given that Cassie [she's called Cassie Cage, but since Cage is only a stage name Johnny used, shouldn't Cassie be named Cassie Carlton, since Carlton is Johnny's real last name]) IS the biological daughter of Johnny Cage & Sonya Blade), since MK VS DC IS konfirmed kanon in the MK11 intro dialogs between Elder Goddess of Virtue Cetrion (the sister of Fallen Elder Son Shinnok & daughter of the female Titan, Kronika) & either Raiden or Sub-Zero, since they (alongside franchise mascot Scorpion) were the two who made the crossover into both MK VS DC & the two Injustice videogames.

In the 1st MK game, speaking of Sonya Blade and her 1st outfit, it was a very common attire for women going to the gym aerobics classes back in the 80's and 90's, the leggings with thong leotard worn over.

MK11 did Sonya Blade dirty.

I always thought it was interesting how MK9 *heavily* implied that when Kano was acting as a double (triple) agent, he and Sonya were becoming romantically involved -- unfortunately for Sonya he was just playing her for a fool and getting some sweet loving while it lasted, and her intimate trust in him got a lot of her teammates killed. I don't blame Sonya for bearing such a huge grudge against Kano. That being said, I feel like the MK1 reboot timeline missed a golden opportunity to revisit this narrative -- only this time (since Liu Kang wanted goodness to reign) have Kano *truly* be a Black Dragon defector and his relationship with Sonya would be genuine.

These are so well done. I love the in game fights used to match with the story lines. That’s a nice touch.

Since discovering your channel I've really loved your timeline history videos, especially the mortal kombat ones. They're very well made and informative for new comers to the series as well as veterans and are also good ways to pass the time during 8 hour plus work days. Goku gets so much hate for how he neglects his family to go off to train on other worlds, and rightfully so. If you look at all the negative things he's done as a parent and spouse, they're so much worse than anything Sonya has done. Yet, he miraculously has somehow managed to keep his marriage together and maintain a loving family. The way Sonya prioritizes her job over her family is no different than how people in the world you and I live in do, and unfortunately it often does breakup families.

Love MK, and I know Sonya has a huge fan base. But I've never really cared for her Character. I'm literally the 1% of the MK community 😂😅

As a long time Sonya main since MK1, I loved this. Appearance-wise, Sonya was a mess. Why is she wearing low-rise pants with her thong showing? 💀. As boring as her default looks are in MKX & MK11, NRS got it right. I do think her various skins in MK11 do a good job of striking the right balance - midriff baring but still military. Rhonda’s voice work in MK11 however … will forever remain a misfire.

About Sonya Blade's MK1 costume appearance, people also need to realize this is what women wore at the gym and aerobics classes during the 80's and 90's, the thong leotard worn over leggings that fashion trend was a real thing at public gyms and aerobics classes not just only on home video or TV weekday mornings.

​@@Albert8044 She looked fine in MK1, UMK3, and MK4 so no complaints there. I was referring to her default appearances in Deadly Alliance, Deception, Unchanged, and Armageddon. The crop top & jacket combo were fine but it's the low-rise jeans with her exposed thong is where they lost her. (MK9 took it even further in the same direction). I get that was a fashion trend at the time -- which has come back -- but it just didn't fit her character at all. IMO.

I like how a tournament where the whole existence of Earth Realm is on the line is a privately held tournament and not publicly well known in the MK universe. You think the Mortal Kombat tournament would be the tournament of all tournament, in real life when a big tournament is held like say the Super Bowl, the Olympic, the World Cup, etc., the whole world is watching and knows of these events through journalists, ads, hype, etc., but for a tournament known to hold the stakes of the world on the line, not even a few single person on Earth other than a few chosen ones knows of its existence. When MK was discuss in its story not even the actual people in its own universe believe it exist, that's a big problem with the story. In Street Fighter, when Ryu defeated Sagat and became the champion of the World Warrior, the whole world knew and new fighters seek to challenge him and amateur wants to be like him, nothing like that happen in the Mortal Kombat universe. The closest thing we got to something like that was a line Liu Kang mention to Nightwolf in MK Annihilation which isn't even canon.

Wrong. Ed Boon has two sisters Sonya and Tanya. In Tanya's bio card in the special edition of MK: Deception this is all confirmed in an interview with Ed Boon "The Tanya character is named after my sister whose name is Tanya and as well as my other sister's name is Sonya. " -_-
