True, and later, in the sequel releases in the ps2 era, i really hate on how liu kang was a zombie and didn't have nothing interesting in the story or the lore in those games, it's like was made it by edgy boring teenagers(i was a kid back then and i hate it, there was so much fanservice, and the woman fighters looked like a low budget fanfic porno, so boring and lame, and for horny lonely guys.) The gameplay was so good(for what i remember for deadly alliance, deception and armaggedon), but i never have the chance to play again these games in todays, because i sell my ps2 a lot of years ago, what i was thinking lol.

@@miilodude_8529 He wasn't just a zombie for edginess and for the sake of it. Raiden resurrected his corpse as an enforcer of his new dark outlook on defending Earthrealm. Meanwhile his soul was released from Shang Tsung's grasp and was appalled at how Raiden was now and looked for a way to stop his body and help his allies in his soul form. Plus he wasn't advertised or hinted to anywhere on Deception's case or in the game really. Only way you discovered him was to find him yourself. Zombie Liu Kang in my opinion was a cool surprise and also was a hilarious jab at the players who wanted him back, as if to say "Okay, here he is! *A fucking corpse* "

It's funny to think GSTAR thinks Bo' Rai Cho is bad, but in reality Bo' Rai Cho is very good in here and Deception. In Armageddon is where he was decent and same with MKX.

I never would've guessed. It's understandable, though. Jax is a pretty muscular dude on his own. The cybernetic arms are also pretty heavy. Cyrax is a human who became a robot, so I could see why Cyrax would be the heaviest of the roster.

After revisiting the 3D era I honestly think Deception is one of the goat entries in the whole franchise. Awesome fighting gameplay, two very fun extra modes (Chess and Puzzle) and Konquest mode could legit be a game for itself. You got so much content out of buying that one single game.

@@therealworld7351 i actually like mk9 a lot and think it has good atmosphere. However I did not get any enjoyment in mkx and mk11's story modes they just didn't interest me at all. For a game like mortal Kombat I think it should be straight to the point like this game (deadly alliance) deception and even Armageddon. That's just my opinion though I still play X and 11 and MkX is actually probably my favorite not for the story but for the fast paced gameplay

@@Beforezzz I can see why people would feel that way since DC vs Mk came before that oddly it feels as if that game had smoother gameplay than 9 did though I still prefer 9 even though controlling the characters feel clunky sometimes I really love it's sharp shaded contrast colors random opinion but I even really like Shang Tsung fighting style and design for MKVDC But hey I respect your opinion so long as you do mine :)

Some people hate it for some reason, but I remember playing this game with my best friend and finishing it in max difficulty with half the roster killed in flawless victory after playing it for hundreds of hours and loving it.

I think Deception perfectly improved on what this game built, so I prefer Deception. The Konquest mode is Deception is just incredible. Deadly Alliance and Deception were the mk games I grew up on though.

@@Misterkennedy04 Me neither. Well, at least before his massive change in MKX. But even then, it's only because he's not AS worthless or stupid this time. They went back to the drawing board, and made Bo Rai Cho a character that's better than he was in DA, Deception and Armageddon. And his fatalities were much better too. Especially the one where he lights someone on fire, and the 2nd one where he takes his canteen and shoves what he's drinking down someone's throat, and they start puking their guts out, literally. Much better than his fatalities in DA and Deception.

Kung Lao looked pretty bad in his alternate razor hat costume. I actually prefer his primary skin. He looks more like a Shaolin (which he is)

This was my first proper MK game I played when I was 12. My brother later gave it to me. I discovered my favourite character & namesake, Kitana. I miss this game. (PS I love Raiden's voice. So smooth.)

Sub Zero's alt in this game is the best he ever looked imo. Though Deception was pretty badass as well.

Midway didn't give the developers enough time to create a second fatality for each character or do stage fatalities so they dropped those. It's not because they didn't want to do them, the game was rushed to completion. I think this is also why they ended up doing that bullshit Kreate-A-Fatality system for Armageddon, they just ran out of time to make a unique fatality for each character.

@@ldking5132 I still blame them since all they really did was copy and paste the character model, moveset, and animations from deception and deadly alliance. It was just a terrible idea to do create a fatality, especially since they're all almost the exact same

@@Disconnect350 Aren't hipsters people that tend to latch onto older shit just for the sake of not being a part of the mainstream? Both of these eras of MK are pretty good but I feel like the HD era is much more enjoyable to play, the gameplay is pretty damn fluid compared to how 3D can be sometimes, especially after the engine switch they did with DA and kept up to Armageddon. The return to the 2D plane really saved it and gave it an opportunity to get much faster and fluid.

Man, this is the best MK history!! I have great memories playing this game...aaah great times🤘🏻

The thing about MKDA, Deception, and Armageddon the way the body models and face models were made it made the game somehow more scary and dark if that even makes sense. Zombie Liu kangs model for instance, moloch, blaze, and especially onaga for example. The newer MK games have more realistic models and it somehow took away from the scary dark feel the older games had.

Loved this game so much back in the day. One of my favorite MK games.

Love this you can just see/hear youre passion while playing

crazy to think this game will be 20 YEARS OLD next year!

Out of the three games for ps2 and xbox MK deception was my favorite

Chad Robinson Thanks for the feedback. And yep, I would like to do MKX for sure. I actually bought it for the PC the other day but I'm having major issues with it. It feels like I'm playing in slow motion, the FPS seems terrible. It sort of put me off it for the time being. I might have to do some tweaking with the graphics settings, or maybe the PC port is just a mess.

They did a cover of Alice in Chains' "Nutshell" for their EP around the same time. I guess it was a tribute to Layne Staley,who died earlier that year (2002)

My favourite 3d MK game. The fighting mechanics are great and the music is badass. The scenarios are very well designed too.

His reactions to Reptile are the best. When he sees him in the menus and then later has to fight him. Epic stuff.

I died at 19:06 😂😂😂😂 he spends literal minutes describing each character but Hsu Hao just gets a “Hsu Hao Get THE FUCK OUTTA HEEYUH!”

This game brought me back to the franchise after MK4

I love that intro. I never skip it.

For "Test Your Might", I wrap my fingers in my shirt and sort of rub the buttons rapidly. That's what works for me.

That soundtrack theme at the end is absolutely superb. Brings back musical texture from the MK3 era, with that weird untuning string instrument, but with a newer twist to it.
