@@angelnobody7137 hardly and MK4 ain't much of a 3D fighter. The only time 3D gameplay is used is when sidestepping which rarely happens otherwise most of the fighting is on a 2D plane.

The arcade version footage used in this video is not comparable because the graphics are wrong...

Kind of unfair to the arcade version when you are running it through MAME where it has known graphical issues compared to the arcade board.

Yeah, you can easily tell the emulator has issues the moment you see how sprites are being displayed (like the smoke ones). Never saw the arcade in person, but I highly doubt the 3D would be worse than in home consoles (like the lack of proper lighting on the 3D models). Not possible in my book.

The PC and Dreamcast own! But the problem with the Dreamcast is the music change every time during the match, like rain stage on every backgrounds. And on top of that, the missing outro song is the living forest. And the game was rush for the 9-9-99 launch.

let's be fair, the real arcade version have much superior graphic quality, more so than mk gold it just the emulator did a bad job at rendering and the game is poorly reverse engineered

Oh god, The GameBoy Color port....

Dreamcast version looks the best and has the most content but for some reasons the footage don't look like 60 FPS footage...

Was the arcade's resolution that low?

The Arcade footage is completely wrong. The original Arcade version has the best graphics among all of the platforms. However, no emulator can emulate it properly yet. That's why it looks so bad in this video (because the game's hardware is hard to emulate). You must record that version directly from an Arcade.

dreamcast pc have very low quality graphic, almost LOD level, and very low polygons count (yes, even worse than ps1, ps1 version only have low resolution and bad lighting) though it have best audio quality, equal to dreamcast and arcade

Nice video, but arcade is not like that, I have the original PCB and it's very different from the video.

Not a fair comparison since you are running the arcade version on MAME,which has a lot of performance issues. Try to play the arcade version in a original cabinet and see why it's the superior version,MK4 on a cabinet is entirely different experience.

PS1, because of the better selection of the arcade sticks. N64 does have better graphics, but the arcade sticks have limited selection - either the Arcade Shark or the MadCatz Dual for N64. And the PC version is based on the PS1 version.

The arcade version is the best, but not the MAME version you have shown which cannt be properlty emulated yet The heath bars dont work, textures are incorrect and there are other glitches. Graphics imperfect as it shows on the arcade database website. The PC version shown is also not hardware accelerated

It was a Dreamcast exclusive. Went by Mortal Kombat Gold and not MK 4.

Less hardware limitations. it was the first 6th generation console, so it had graphical enhancements and more storage which allowed for more characters and stages on an ‘older’ game like MK4.

@@coffinfeeder7732 It's not a "storage" capacity issue, my friend, just either an exclusive to try to draw more sales on that version or even more simple: developers had more time to add more characters, which takes a lot of effort to design (as in designing al the moves set, combos, sounds, etcetera).

Prefer the ps1, n64, arcade, pc, and the Dreamcast versions, the Game Boy Color version looks like shit with blurry fatality FMVS, graphics which could give someone a eye strain. if you want to play a better version, play the Dreamcast, ps1, n64, arcade, and the pc versions instead
