Sadly, that's probably something they're not gonna follow up on, and was probably just an easter egg referencing the fact that Shang Tsung was originally conceptualized as a character named Shang Lao during the early development stages of the original Mortal Kombat game. Would be cool if they do follow up on it though, but I kinda doubt they will.

Wow, they really have a huge respect for the franchise. The first MK still is the best adaptation from a game in movie history after 25 years. All these actors nailed their roles and truly shaped the characters for the next generations. Even passed Trevor Goddard as Kano! Netherrealm should bring back Liu Kang with Robin Shou skin and VA and same for Talisa Soto's Kitana and they will make serious money. PS: Just forget Brian Thompson as Shao Khan.

Edit (11/30/20): 1.6k of y’all are crazy for liking this...thanks! ...and yes, I did omit Kitana, but to be fair, when I was typing this, I was thinking of the original trio and Raiden as they were the ones together on the boat heading to Shang Tsung’s island, and Kitana was neutral all the up to the mid-end part of the movie hence why I said “original” protagonists.

While it shows up in versus gameplay, the song’s use in the story would have been epic, but is strangely absent.

My fav intro dialogue is probably Johnny and Shangs master Boyd intro. It’s such a cool reference to the movie, and with the movie skins it makes it a million times better

@@m.muradbasic4186 Eh, I dunno, maybe it's just because I draw a lot of portraits but I definitely think they improved his look in this game, MKX Johnny looks kind of off. MK11 Johnny looks closer to his MK9 self, just redone by more experienced artists

IIRC, Shang Lao was what Shang Tsung was originally going to be called. The idea of a brother or an alternate version of Shang Tsung going by that name might be interesting, though.

Shang lao was the original name of Shang tsung , when the game was being made , then it was changed to Shang tsung

Oh man, I just watched this movie yesterday when it was on AMC. Such a fun movie. Linden Ashby was perfect as Johnny Cage.

Every time is see Johnny Cage like this I always think of some of his movie quotes "THIS IS WHERE YOU FALL DOWN. WHERE DO YOU GET THESE GUYS!!!?". "LUCKY I DIDN'T ASK HIM TO PARK THE CAR". " SONYA YOU CAN GO AHEAD AND FIND OUT WHAT THAT WAS LUI AND I WILL WAIT HERE".😂😂😂.

I know it’s been mentioned but Shang Tsung appearing as himself then morphing into himself in front of himself is hilarious. Loving this DLC and Raiden looks awesome

Christoph Lambert has great and very unique voice.I m glad that they ve created this mode.
