this game and snes street fight was soo much ahead of their time. the games still hold up as most atmospheric.

programmers must have forgotten to counter the jump kick ... otherwise mission impossible

I love the character select part. Also great play.

In short, Raiden soon ended the world.....all because he was bored....HAVE A NICE DAY :D

I agree the D-Pad made it hard to do for some reason. Down, Back (3x) HP was the code but maybe the buttons weren't responding like it should.

Searching for 'Rayden" was like very hard mode. It brings me to the MK1 remake... er MK1(23)/Mortal Kombat: Liu Kang the Fire God-Revives Every Kharakter and Makes Them Younger By Levitating Through A Portal. I thought I was experiencing a Mandela effect before stumbling upon this. BTW, congrats on the most challenging fighting game! 💪

Impressive sound and graphics. Too bad Nintendo toned down the violence. That is the only reason I went with the SEGA version instead.

Lee Ludlow art yes i know! The snes version sucks I prefer the arcade versions more. If you watch my arcade runs i do a lot better!

We had the largest coin in circulation back when I would pump them into this. Its went out of circulation in '06. The New Zealand 50c coin.

This is at least better than the Genesis version. Raidens fatality is pretty cool in the SNES version, the gameplay differs a bit from the arcade. Is the input lag unbearable?

I don't think this is better than Genesis version. I had it on SNES, and I have both on my wii u home-brew. The SNES one plays like shit. Period. The graphics are overall better except for certain projectiles like Raiden's and Scorpion's that come out of nowhere. The SNES lag and input issues are horrible-messes up pretty much any combo from the arcade. Corner punch traps are inescapable because they didn't put in the push back on the aggressor. Jump kicks usually miss because the character-to-screen ratio is off. If two projectiles are thrown, one disappears. Raiden and Scorpion have moves that fail often due to screen ratio (superman and teleport attack). Raiden also can't fly under projectiles he does in the arcade. Shang Tsung only throws one fire skull. And how did they leave out the ending pictures?!...even the Genesis has those. There is probably more but this game was a hot mess. Gameplay is ultimately key and the Genesis version is so much better than this one.

@@joshuaparrish9635I played the SNES version because that’s what I had. 20 years later and I can see the lagging issues compared to UMK3. If it didn’t have those issues that would have made up for the lack of blood and changing some of the fatalities.

If only I could have married the sounds, music, and animations of the snes version with the blood on genesis.. I would have been a happy kid. No voice after a round win.. lui kang sounding like Kano... Raidens famous gibberish not being said.. no applause animation when you win in front of the monks or Shang Tsung... damn near killed the genesis version for me

MK 1 on SNES was the better version and everyone knows it, but because of "tHe bLoOd!", people say Genesis. 🙄

You play like my sister did, using the same move over and over again or constantly jumping to get away. Weak.

In defense of Megatron1877, it's almost impossible on some of the Mortal Kombat games (when you get higher up in the game and to the bosses) to play normally. The AI spams the same moves over and over making it impossible to play normal and fair.
