My favorite MK character period. Absolutely love what they've done with this character both gameplay wise, story wise, personality wise everything. I'd say his only weak points is his buttons, they're a bit on the slow side but he's really good imo I'm so glad

Don’t let this distract from the fact that Shang Tsung was carved out of the game and put behind a pay wall under the guise of a ‘pre-order bonus’ Edit addressing comments saying that a pre-order is not a pay wall: The pre-order is not the pay wall. Yep & the reference to the belltower also if u look at the bottom when performing a fatality plus look like sharp tip pipes I use to call them back in the day

He functions very much like zeku in sfv. You swap to the proper form depending on the situation, and the matchup. For example, after getting a knockdown with the vial special move, swapping to young form lets you take advantage of them being full screen

When I got this game I started maining Reptile because funny lizard, but then I picked up Shang Tsung. What’s awesome is that if I get bored I can pick up another character and not only do I get better knowledge of the game plan of that character, I can morph mid fight to maximize his kit. Shang is fun if you know how to utilize him.

As a Shang main in every game possible im very happy to see this vid. BTW i think that spin kick is a reference to mk9 Shang maybe? I remember starting komobs with that move in 9. 10:57

I've tried both and I like Rain way more. The Problem I have with Shang is the lack of mix ups when up close. I know Shang does way more damage but I perfer the 50/50

Damn they really took away his “Your Soul is Mine” and dark green magic from MK11. That was favorite thing. I mean I like his young n old mechanic but still they could’ve still kept that. Actually didn’t he steal someone soul in the first M1K trailer? So what the heck NRS!?

That was Shang Tsung’s biggest nerf in mk11! He requires the soul steal to transform, and the transformation back left you completely vulnerable.

My favorite part of Shang is that you can not only use other characters' fatal blows, but you can also use their own fatalities against them.

I haven't tried this yet but when you play Shang tsung in the final chapter of story mode whose move list do you get when you transform into the opponent because every enemy is two characters put into one

They probably added this in a recent update now but ex injection also cant be broken along side the 1st hit of young version claws and old version claw is completely unbreakable in combos according to the info. Also,maybe it's just against rain but his normals range is pretty small/slow for some attacks

Mk11 had the est shang tsung story wise but MK1 has the best gameplay wise. I like how it took all your meeter to tripple skull in mk11 but in mk1 you can do ir meterless ajd you no longer have to soul steal😊

Sindels new Touch Of Death kombo is just like Smoke's 100-Hit-Kombo from MK9, its unavoidable, unblockable, its ENHANCEABLE, and they need to patch it out. *WHOS WITH ME!?!?*

enhanced injection is also a combo extender

The spike move should be combos starter on enhanced. To many enhanced moves are just armor

to me it just seems obsurd that arguably the best character in the game is locked behind paid dlc, but i can't talk with my profile picture and Steve, Kazuya, Joker and Pyra/Mythra in Smash

Shang Tsung is extremely dificult to play with just grab Smoke or Baraka youll get more damage for very liltle effort

Not a good recommendation for beginners but he is a nice challenge. I like the character and am willing to try a little harder. I also have played since mk 9 so that’s something.

True underdawg, while playing as shang tsung did your Mortal Kombat one game crash? Has anyone had any problems while playing invasion with the game freezing, and then the PS5 crashes, and then a flashing blue light?

I think they should bring back the ability to morph into any character with some commands, like back in UMK3.

Uhhh no. The code for morph is already in the files. Commands to control who you morph into would take 20 lines of code at most. Like 500 bytes. Not GB or even MB.@@Zed-gj8vq

Block advantage tells you if you get your turn back. Anything higher than negative six is not safe, which means if you do the attack and they block it, they get their turn back, but if it's less than that, you have time to block

I use the character morph to mix up combos and throw the opponent off

Aw man he didnt even mention the long as hell 60 something hit combo shang can do with the ground fireballs. Its not at all worth doing but i thought it was cool.

The MK3 reference is cool, but in the movie I believe they were mechanical.

I think shang sungs spikes are a callback to his old mk 2 fatality i think

I think Shang is better than Reiko at zoning but people don't want to put in the work He gets stage positioning or side swaps, with alot of meter gain Zoners with decision making are almost always the best

Hopefully someone crazy starts playing him changing from old to young to morph character in the same string

Easy enough to do, you can also go young-old-young in a single string

Also his combos are super long so if you get the life lead you can do his longer combos to waste time.

@@olduhh thank you! I’ve been trying for days to try to get a handle on Shang and I’m having a lot of difficulty. I went him to be my new main. Baraka was cheap, reptile is basic but Shang is really hard to learn so I’m not giving up. I’ll probably go with scorpion to start out with. See how he goes as Kameo.

I think the young form should be the better and damaging form rather than the old form,,young form should be better than the old form

His skulls should definitely have a cooldown. The fact that he can just keep throwing 3 skulls without using meter is coocoo bonkers insane.

Just duck or perfect guard. Or use sub zero Kameo, or Stryker kameo. Or motaro kameo. Or Kenshi who can ignore them. Or Johnny, smoke, scorpion, reptile, sub zero, Raiden, etc who all have tools to ignore them. In other words, learn the game.

Shang sucks online for casual players who even do well. If the opposing player is good, he only has to do two things: use a character with teleportation and block down all your hits, and that's it! Shang Tsung's game plan is over. His frames to start combos are always low and medium, in addition, too slow and many of them so punishable. There is also no way to start a combo above the head and finally; It's too dependent on kameos. In Kombat league, even though shang is my main, it is usually frustrating to use.

If shang tsung is playable by default then why did i have to spend 7 bucks to get him😂

Nope, with how over powered Raiden, johnny cage and how smoke have overhead and low hits in the same combo with minimum punish on block this is just one thing she has cause she is so slow and do not have mix ups like everyone else. And she's much slower. And also , casual players are not going to know how to perfect that levitate to use like that.

Nobody considers shang top 5, he literally has little to no ways to get in, like the only character who is probably worse on actually getting they're combos started is nitara even with kameos he's really predictable

Imagine using Enchanced Form Stealer with Raiden and a Kameo lol
