Yeah honestly zthe most prolific childrens media villains that also , yeah go dark, aproviate but kids love darkness, hell i even live the indicated darkness that maks you thing and delve rather than just be gritty, the most. And childrens media, is surprisingly good at that. Even the accidental shadow realm, is a good example how well a it it is, lovecraftian horro is exitencial crisis in disguise..

Ysabell: "He never feels anything. I don't mean that nastily, you understand. It's just that he's got nothing to feel with, no whatd'youcallits, no glands. He probably THOUGHT sorry for me." Death as a character is the main reason I got into the Discworld books just from what bits I'd heard from people who'd already read them, and it's quotes like that that made him my favorite character.

Death having existential crises over concepts that are found naturally within the bounds of life. But if Death could think 🤔 Doesn't that make him in a sense still “alive” aka conscious. Imagine having to deal with thoughts for eternity 🤔 Death has it rough, man.

I thought Sir Terry really started showing his genius on Equal Rites, and I'm kinda disappointed not many people talk about that book. The first 2 are between meh and ok, but the third is really good. He does drop some of the worldbuilding done on it very quickly in the series, but if you keep that in mind, it's still a great read.

Given this is the first of the Death series of stories I think it's understandable that Death's character is still only half-formed by Pratchett here, much like with other characters in other series who grow as they become more firmly established & their journeys are clearer in his mind (eg Vimes in Guards, Guards! is quite different from how he is in later books).

I'm not sure where the best place to recommend books to you, so here goes: Have you ever read any Glen Cook? His Garrett Files are the antecedent of the Dresden Files, and the Black Company books are some of my favorite of all time, I think they influenced Steven Erikson (in at least some way) for Malazan. If I were to ask you to review just one, I'd say the first Black Company book, if you're at all interested. If this is the wrong venue for this, let me know, I know you don't want emails!

Ended up reading all night. It picked up LITERALLY the next chapter. Highly recommend getting past chapter 4 and seeing if you can put it down

Thankss much. Fantasy new is my favorite. The interview with authors. Still, intro introducing self published authors is right up there. If you're intersested in self published authors, the Ed Lorn channel is place for you. Ed is an author, that has real experience self publishing, publishing houses, and everything in between. You can look through old videos, and get real advise from a publish author. He seems like a Good-Old-Boy, but he reads wider then anyone I know on KZread. How many people do you know, who has a copy of Norwegian Wood on their shelf. I only watch three book channels. One is our kind host, Dan the man. Another is Becky M, because her taste in Science Fiction, fantasy, are in line with my own taste. Then there Is Ed Lorn. Ed a damn good source for the creepy stuff.

Holy damn, this channel is magic. Did you ever hear the joke, "I'm not superstitious. I'm just a little'stitous." Well, that's me. I watched Daniel's video this morning, and went shopping. Then I caught the last ten minutes of a book sale, at my library. Quckly scanning the shelves, what do I find in the Science Fiction, and Fantasy Section? Mort, by Terry Pratchett. If that isn't magic, I don't know what is.

@@sjokkoladehjerte Well, now I'm jealous. I always wanted to be a person who could make things. She also has more edited cuts then a action movie.

@@Kikilang60 i know right?! It was a cute concept to begin with, but the resulting dad child moment when they immediately sat down to read🥰 Im sure you could make something, it's just starting (a new hobby/ project) thats a little nerve racking, i say go for it - plus its great to listen to an audio book while puttering on with something. I kinda just bubbled over with cozy yesterday and to share it and I'm glad you liked it! 🙉😄
