Mors Principium Est - Inside the Project - Master of the Dead

Музыка

An in-depth analysis of the song, "Master of the Dead", and how it was put together. I reopen the original Cubase session and take a look at the individual parts that make up the "synthiest" song from the new album, "Seven" by Mors Principium Est. This is the 4th video in the "Inside the Project" series, taking you through the composition, arrangement and orchestrations I made and hopefully it will lend some insight into my process and perhaps even inspire you with you own project.

    Incredible work Andy! All the songs on the album are very powerful, honestly some of your best compositions to date. It seems like you can push them to the max when you're restricted by this melodeath boundary. When I first heard this song, it immediately reminded me of The Unbron and Lib=Ter days... which made me think: maybe you could select a few of your favourite songs from the first three albums and re-record or even re-interpret them with your magic touch (you Midas like creature who turns metal to gold) and bundle them in an EP. Imagine all these sympohonic layers and Black Hole on songs like Pure, Parasites of Paradise or Altered State of Consciousness! I actually think everyone would die to see what you would do with both of these albums (with the original composers' blessing of course). Anyhow, you're at the top of your game and you can be really proud of this masterpiece! I truly am baffled by how you Biden every release and I'm excited to hear what you will produce next :)

I know you may ignore this considering who you are and your place in the world of metal music, but I’d love to send you a clip and see if you had any ideas as to what could make it better. The way I see it, if it brings you joy and passion, then keep doing it :) As for giving some producing advice on your vocals, I'll be honest, I get an overwhelming amount of requests to check out bands and help give advice on people's songs ect and I'm having to turn away paid work in that respect as I'm just too busy. Producing music is part of my job but it's impossible to give enough of my time for free to do that anymore. I still do my best to reply to everyone though and I hope you understand and keep pursuing it bro

I need someone like you who understands the process in depth and has the years of experience required to make great music. Please let me know and as always keep it up. Hey Andy I have some questions and sorta of a request if possible! So you play in E Standard Tuning E A D G B E What if you tune 1 octave lower so you will still be in E A D G B E but it will be super brutal heavy now that it’s lower imagine a new Mors Principium Est record # 8 or Andy Gillion record # 2 will utilize this Tuning that will be so epic! You can go back and forth playing 1 octave higher and lower for your solo stuff and Your band too you play in. What if you didn’t use a drop pedal either you did ole fashion way and tune the guitar 1 octave lower and new MPE albums will really be death metal and Tech same with all the AG solo albums! It’s still cool if you want to use drop pedal too if ya like! Also what if you got a seven string but instead of using a lower bass string you get a higher treble string in front of the high E so now your low E is now the seventh string! Your lead/solo playing is really amazing I recommend you try this method! I stated to the Guys in Obscura to do this when they put out Akroàsis album but Steffen K. said maybe we think about, but Linus K. Said he utilizes this idea with his Bass Guitar 🎸 P.s Linus from Alkaloid and Obsidious state your one of the best guitarist in the heavy metal realm! Well what do you think does this sound interesting hope you can try this out! Thank you for always commenting back to me I’m greatful for it! Your my hero in metal world beside Paul Wardingham you two guys always rock keep it coming!

  • @andygillion

    @andygillion

    3 жыл бұрын

    If I dropped down an entire octave I'd need a baritone guitar and then some! You'd need very thick strings and it wouldn't work on an average 6 string. It's a cool idea though, especially thr 7 string with a high A about the top E. That could be fun!

  • @joshuawerner3074

    @joshuawerner3074

    3 жыл бұрын

    On the octave idea you can always use a drop pedal to hit those octaves with messing with a scale length and string gauges but yes going ole fashion way you would half to do this. Glad you love the seven string idea 💡 I think it will work for sure who needs a low B anyway low E is heavy enough lol but seriously but a High A string in front of the High E is a game changer for ya! Also to add you might not need a full baritone scale like 27” or 28” scales you can do multi scale to I recommend a 1” fan frets so it’s not to crazy on the fan and feel uncomfortable! Try like 26.75” on the bass end and 25.75” on treble side for six string! Hope this helps! Thank you for the reply back as always Andy you rule!

    Very interesting! One question: you did not mention the bass at all. Do you always program it (looks like in the video) and use it on the album? Is it easier to program than just play it? I‘m a bass player myself, hence the question :-)

  • @andygillion

    @andygillion

    3 жыл бұрын

    The bass is usually performed in the traditional way but for this album I decided to program it. The band has only consisted of myself and Ville for some years now, so tracking guitars, doing the synths, orchestration, bass and even lyrics in time for the deadline was not easy. I tracked the bass with a real instrument on Dawn of the 5th Era for example, but this time around it was much more manageable to program it.

  • @kristianbloem9666
