After a few shows where he was subdued, Morrissey was back on top and this was a great show. Morrissey and the band were both very energetic. There were no stage invasions or attempts, but the crowd was still a very warm one, and Morrissey was visibly pleased by that.
The setlist was slightly resequenced and in the process "Something Is Squeezing My Skull" and "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others" were reinstated, at the expense of "I Keep Mine Hidden" and the just introduced "You Just Haven't Earned It Yet Baby".
As he came on stage Morrissey greeted the crowd with the words "Tampere, you!" Following "How Soon Is Now?" he thanked the crowd in English, then in Finnish: "kiitos, kiitos, kiitos..." Over the opening bars of "How Can Anybody Possibly Know How I Feel?" he cryptically asked "Do you know?" Then after that song he said "Thank you for dragging yourselves along when you could have stayed at home, and you could have stayed in your sauna... but you came here..." After "I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris" he said "I don't know many Finnish words... I know kiitos, kiitos, one word..."
Following "Let Me Kiss You" Morrissey proceeded to the introduction of the band: "Would you please say hei-hei to the luscious Boz Boorer... on the bass guitar, Solomon Walker... drumming, Matt Walker... la-la-la-la-la, Jesse Tobias... and piano, Kristopher Pooley... Who am I? I come from many centuries ago. I have no home, no roots, no past, no present, no future, nothing." Then over the opening bars of "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others" he added "All I have is a (?)..." Besides previously heard lyric changes in the latter number, he also sang "From the ice age to the dole age there is just one concern, and you have not discovered". After "One Day Goodbye Will Be Farewell" he thanked the crowd, then added "You're very kind, thank you... We are too..." His parting words before encore "First Of The Gang To Die" were "Thank you Tampere... God is looking down on you and he - or she - is smiling..."
