God, let Morrissey get a record deal, so his 1 year ready album ' Bonfire of Teenagers' can be released. Wonderful song.

Why can't he self-publish? How can he be this late into his career and not have the money to do it himself? Billie Eilish recorded her songs in a literal closet and self-published to Spotify. Two years later and he's still touring, so he's not destitute. Something's up.

@MisterMonsieur I have wondered this myself with some frustrated many of the songs coming out through KZread are phenomenal and I have two theories. One is that Morrissey doesn't have the influence/ability to get physical copies stocked by record stores and he doesn't want to release it solely digitally, he's spoken in the past about being very attached to the culture of record stores and the physical medium. My other perhaps more cynical though I ponder more likely theory is that as a rabble rousing contrarian with a pathology of self victimisation Morrissey is actually quite enjoying being "cancelled" and is letting the situation continue for the perceived edge it gives him

@@Stevethesearcher Wholeheartedly agree. Accepting one's mortality is probably one of the biggest challenges in life. These two setlists were so dark - you can hear he really struggles with growing old and I love that he's so honest about it. Very important song, especially for young people listening, living in a culture obsessed with youth and beauty. Let's enjoy it while we can and still have the strength, we're all going to be old sooner than we think.

@@beegirl851 Very good comment. I noticed it with this song and “Bonfire of Teenagers” that he is going into some very dark places which frankly needed to be explored. Both those songs are very intense and dark. His voice on this song is outstanding.

Indeed. As a lyricist, he’s one of the all time greats I’d put him up there with Dylan, even if their styles are quite different. However, Moz is a much better singer.

Oh shit this just hit me like a tonne of bricks and I'm crying harder than I have in so long I don't wish to remember, but this has done the same thing hearing I Know It's Over for the first time 38 years ago ... With both of these songs it's the level of intense emotion in his voice and of course the music. It has unleashed some past trauma and grief from it's hiding place in my mind. I've thought about going to therapy but I've had serious doubts that a psychologist can unlock this part of me, because I don't know where it lies but Morrissey (metaphorically) always has. I feel safer with him than any one on this planet, besides my Jack Russell!!

Let's fuckinggggggggggggggg go !!!!! Capitol Records (Los Angeles) will release Morrissey’s ‘Bonfire of Teenagers’ in February 2023. The album will be released worldwide except for the United Kingdom, where there is no label deal. ‘Bonfire of Teenagers’ is produced by Grammy-producer Andrew Watt, and was recorded in Los Angeles. The musicians on the album are Jesse Tobias, Andrew Watt, Josh Klinghoffer (ex-Chili Peppers), and Chad Smith and Flea (both of the Chili Peppers). The album features Miley Cyrus and Iggy Pop on additional vocals. The eleven tracks are: I Am Veronica, Rebels Without Applause, Kerouac’s Crack, Ha Ha Harlem, I Live in Oblivion, Bonfire of Teenagers, My Funeral, Diana Dors, I Ex-love You, Sure Enough The Telephone Rings, Saint In a Stained Glass Window. Album art is by Liam Lynch. Capitol Records (Los Angeles) has also licensed the rights to re-release Morrissey’s albums ‘Southpaw Grammar’, ‘You Are The Quarry’, ‘Ringleader of the Tormentors’, ‘Years of Refusal’ and ‘World Peace is None of Your Business’, and these will be available in deluxe vinyl/LP formats. As with ‘Bonfire of Teenagers’, the albums will be issued worldwide except for the United Kingdom until a UK label steps in. Morrissey is managed by Maverick/Quest in Los Angeles.

I wonder if Morrissey intentionally sings this in a much hoarser voice as a way of emphasising the voice of an old man slowly passing.
