Yes, it’s normal to turn your back when the whistle is blown and a foul is called. In sports, you typically don’t expect physical retaliation when plays are called dead. In ANY sport. Hitting a player after the whistle is blown is always dirty universally in ALL sports. Shit isn’t cool to hit someone unexpectedly when a play is called dead. Ref blowing a whistle literally signals to all players that the game isn’t being played anymore. You can expect hard contact during gameplay, but outside of gameplay you shouldn’t expect being hit when you aren’t looking.

Morris had no reason to throw an elbow and Jokic on a fast break (which could’ve injured him) that’s a CHEAP SHOT. That type of foul is definitely not normal and had flagrant intent. And for him to do so and then turn his back is stupid on his part Jokic had all the right to retaliate. Nobody, including the literal NBA, seen that play and thought “Yea markieff just did a hard foul” it was universally seen as dirty so idk what NBA you’re watching saying it’s “something that happens daily”

A lot of the guys from the early 00’s we're still in the league in 2012.

Lots of people have noted the problems here but it's worth weighing in. First, of all I didn't have much respect for either Morris brother even before this interview because I remember their dirty shots particularly the one on Jonas Jerebko when he was playing for Detroit. Second, this interview is a good example of why I'm losing interest in this show. Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson saw what happened and yet they go along with Markieff's lies. I don't understand this approach. Do they not realize this is all on record? Markieff Morris did not take a foul on Jokic he gave him a dirty, completely non-basketball, hit with his elbow and bodyweight into Jokic's ribs and arm pit. He then ran away without looking a move both childish and strategically stupid (as Marcus pointed out). Nikola Jokic got up and put Morris on the floor which is a pretty natural response to a dirty hit like that and not dissimilar to Kareem Abdul Jabbar dropping Kent Benson after Benson elbowed him. kzread.info/dash/bejne/k4Jpmc-vdKypiNo.html Markieff's claim that Jokic was dirty or took a "sucker shot" or "snuck" Morris is easily refuted by the video evidence that most of us have already seen. kzread.info/dash/bejne/i61stpdsiMLMqJM.html Morris also claims that the Miami Heat held him out to protect him from himself. I've seen many of these "all the smoke episodes" and one thing to take away is, Matt and Stephen don't really have a solid stand on anything; they will always nod and agree with whatever is being said by the guest. Perhaps my sample size is just too small, but that's the impression. Also, Morris' take on the 'Jokic incident' is hilarious. And the other; "I can't get you, I'ma take one of your teammates" well tough guy, why didn't you take Aaron Gordon instead of Austin Rivers? Matt and Stephen laughing at the brother of the 'beef' guy taking on an unrelated player out of 'revenge' moments after going all how we're on the basketball court and not on the streets is quite frankly a bit spineless.
