Morris Minor 1000 1957

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is Mo, my 1957 Morris Minor 1000. She has the 948cc engine which runs as sweet as a nut. Working trafficators that look fantastic, she is generally a very nice solid Morris minor.

I do believe they are 7 inch drums all round, later it was 8 inch on the front still 7 on the rear.... beautiful car, still with split screen wipers before they changed.... love it thanks for sharing....

Lovely. My wife and I bought a '57 when we lived in Melbourne (it's an Australian built car), and loved it so much we bought it home with us to the 'States. Runs like a Swiss watch. Without a doubt, and unlike most British cars I have owned, it's the most reliable collector car I have ever owned. It might just be the most reliable car I have ever owned - period!

The Trafficators were an innovation by Lucas Of England which was fitted on most British cars from 1948 on wards till these were replaced by blinkers which was an American concept sand much cheaper to install. I had them in my Morris Oxford Seried @ in Calcutta where it was known as the Landmaster. For some idiotic reason I replaced the Trafficators with blinkers but retained the Trafficators. I wil re-install them again. Subrata Datta

Heavy at first, if you're used to modern cars, but you very quickly get used to it. Another thing is that the clutch pedal hinges from underneath the floor, rather than from above, so the pedal moves a bit differently when you push it.

  • @jaggass

It can run on unleaded but the cyl head has to be modified by having harder valve seats fitted since unleaded doesn't lubricate them like leaded petrol does. If youre cyl head hasn't been modified to run on unleaded then you simply put lead additive in it.

Great as I live in the misty highlands with lots of wombats and kangaroos and need to stop quick and was concerned about drums, are the drums power assisted. I can buy a 1957 2 door which has good motor as it is used daily by a guy who runs the morris minor club nearby for $3000 au The paint needs a good spray job but the car is in original condition so is that a good price, I am kind of excited about the little car as I have been watching it over the last 10 yrs parked in the town near me so I finally went and asked the owner if he wanted to sell and he agreed, he has 6 more at his home but those are more expensive.
