Stamford Connecticut is a commutable area to New York City approximately 1 hour train ride.

Very nice video! As late as the 1960s, Stamford’s downtown area used to have a quaint, even small town, New England vibe. Lovely it was. Apparently, when urban renewal started, there was a big push to shift to a more “verticalized” city center as shown in this video. In many ways, it seems to have worked out, considering many other northeastern cities faced rapid decline and blight that remains even to this day. And while the significant footprint of Stamford’s industrial base and blue-collar sectors slowly started fading away, as was the case nationwide, pretty much, the city rebounded and took bold steps to become the best version of itself, going forward, pushing pass the blighted areas little by little. And like in so many other locales, the information age stepped in, and the rest is history, as the population of Stamford continues to grow along with countless new upscale amenities. The New England vibe can still be found in the more rustic, leafy, and suburban areas along coastal areas and North Stamford. Quite a nice balance for this medium-sized city! The relatively narrow roads, laid out centuries ago, were never intended to handle the robust automobile traffic we see there today. Would really like to see a huge reduction in, even the banning of, motor vehicles downtown, and an effort to pedestrianize more areas as time goes by--and the creation of more bike-friendly roadways around the whole city.
