I started watching you maybe 5 Or 6 years ago. My childhood friend had cf. I never thought you would be able to parent. I'm so happy and grateful to see this. Now you are changing diapers not lungs!

I love it when new parents have a baby and when home they talk real soft and low as they are afraid to wake the baby...NOT knowing that the baby get so use to the quite that when they bear the slightest noise, they wake. I've always used my normal tone of voice so my baby could sleep through these normal sounds of life. Peter and Mary, if you see this message, this is my motherly advise and not at all telling you what to do! I wish you all a beautiful rest of your day ♡

This was my Mothers advice to parents too and she is from many years ago. I am 52. She was never quiet around me when I slept.

I think she was trying to not wake Peter actually because he does the night shift with the baby and then he sleeps later once Mary is up.

I LOVE that diapering prayer! Wow that was beautiful. It so speaks to where I am right now and realizing that in a few short months, I will be the caretaker for my parents. It's very humbling. Life, full circle. Thank you so much for sharing. P.S. We all need more baby noises. That little fuss he made - I smiled so hard.

@@love_nyc_ There is a special tube that attaches to the bottle that slides into the babies mouth so that when they suck at the breast they are able to suck the milk from the bottle. Some adoptive mothers chose to take medication to start milk production, but Mary chose to use the tube method instead. Any method that gets the baby fed is a good method!!!!

Love hearing you sing so comfortably, Mary! Love seeing you wake up and have a coffee without being stuck in bed coughing. Love the breastfeeding opportunity and ingenious method and the fact that it allows that bonding. Love that you can drink a coffee while doing your vest! Talk about having all the skills! You are killing it at living life fully. I used to be sad that your wonderful voice was shut down by your illness and now it’s freed up to allow the world to enjoy it. Elijah looks pretty much in the groove and you too. Good job parents! Ollie is looking much better as well. Hope he’s healing well and not too freaked out by his surgery and all. I hope you can still keep your tiny plants and painting in time but understand the ultimate tiny thing is baby E. he’s such a little squisher. Enjoy and yep coffee with a new baby is essential. Sleeping babies are like drugs and make you so sleepy so you have to fight it to the death of that sleepiness. Lol. You are amazing parents and people.

My sister got milk for her best friends baby boy, just holding him and hearing him cry did it. I was so young back then and thought that was so odd but now I understand so much more and that was one of the most beautiful things I got to witness. You are giving Eli the sweetest start to life, denying him nothing. Such a giving heart. 💖💖💖

Oh ... wow. Question for you, if it's okay? I'm blind, so the visual parts of this are confusing, not being able to follow them. Is Elijah breastfeeding from Mary, or is she somehow getting the breastmilk from his birth mom? I'm intrigued. One of my closest friends had a cat who, when around kittens, began producing milk and nursing them. My friends were told the kittens were two months old--they were half that, and my friend's cat nursed them until they were old enough for normal weaning. it's so beautiful.

@@AmyAndThePup Hi, Mary is using an SNS system. It is a tube connected to his milk source in a bottle so he gets the full effect of breast feeding. I do not know where the milk or formula is supplied from. My grandma had a french poodle that kept stealing a feral cats kitten and Babette actually also got milk for him and nursed him for 6 mos. She even accepted the pain of the kneading cats do when nursing. Animals truly are amazing.

It warms my heart to see you both with your son. He is one lucky boy. It reminds me of when I was a new mom. I didn’t know exactly what to do and when. I of course got behind in my work but the baby was well cared for. They were my priority, if God gave me such a wonderful gift I was going to take care of them. My first born was a boy, who is now 45, wow! He has a wife and 2 kids, my grandkids. One is 20! What? And one is 17, help!. My second son is almost 41 almost 42 and has a son that is 3 1/2, yeah he got a late start and unfortunately the marriage did not last. They live close and share responsibility of their son. He is too awesome for words. I just love when you both sing to him, and rock him, he will someday remember what awesome parents he had. God bless you both and keep what you are doing.

Every time Mary mentions coffee, it literally makes me crave a cup 🤣

Wow, what Peter read! It made me tear-up. It’s not the just grandiose acts of service which may be only few, but the everyday, mundane acts of service that please our Lord as well! As in this time of life our elderly parents are requiring more help, I try to remember the myriad diapers, feeding, sleepless nights and care they provided me and my 3 siblings. It is humbling. I have to continually ask to see this through the eyes of Jesus. We can feel so selfish as carers, even for those we love. But I can do ALL things through Christ Who strengthens me!

Diaper changing time has always been my favorite time with baby, mine or a relative's or friend's. It's the perfect time for eye contact and talking to each other. It's gentle touches and soothing voices and laughing. The bonding during diaper time can be so strong and important. God is there during those close tiny precious moments ❤

Sitting here with a sick toddler & a sleepy newborn & that prayer is just what I needed to hear right now

i remember watching your video about how you wouldn’t be able to have children, and i am so beyond happy that the treatment you started is doing better than you ever thought possible and you are now able to be parents. i remember young mary and peter accepting the fate that they would not have children but i still sensed a sadness in that video, a longing to have children. i’m so glad that god and the doctors have blessed you with the ability to have children.

Omg, I love that you can experience breastfeeding in that way! My babies(twins) were preemies and were unable to breastfeed. I pumped for the first 6 months and bottle fed them but longed to be able to experience that form of bonding with baby. I’m so happy for you both!

I almost cried when I realized something. You don't wake up, cough cough cough, and spend an hour or two doing vest, nebs, etc. I know you still do your vest, obviously, but now it's wake up, get comfy clothes, get baby, start coffee, drink coffee... It's beautiful. I thank God. I rejoice over the gift of Tricafta. And I rejoice over this little life you both nurture with such love and tenderness. Mary, your singing was beautiful. My uncle had cf, unfortunately he passed away before I was born. I am glad his sacrifice is changing to improve the lives of cf patients.

I nursed my baby in the same way and it was such a blessing for both of us. Such a gift we shared for nearly 4 years.

Wow, with the SNS? That’s so amazing. It didn’t work for me with my adopted son. Then we conceived and I nursed for 16 months each then dried up.. Never thought to use it after milk dries up and I still want to nurse though. I love love seeing Mary be able to breastfeed.
