That is her longest whistle tone. Her build up to the end is just on point.

How do I describe her talent? That's difficult. I'd rather describe how I feel whenever I hear her sing, she touches my soul and somehow leaves me wanting for nothing else and more at the same time.

No rehearsal but only soundcheck and doing all these techniques. That's how good Morissette is. 🤩🏆

FYI, being music lovers themselves ( Dad Amay Amon was a music band member in his younger years ) Morissette's parents named their daughter Joann Morissette on June 2,1996 after a musician, and a singer, namely Johan Sebastian Bach, and Alanis Morissette respectively.

Morissette is a true dichotomy! A conundrum if you will. On one hand she can sing classically pristine like Celine or even a Dimash but she also has this gritty r&b pop side that she has infused into her style aka squeaks and growls ! She also transfers emotions like no other singer I have come across. She makes NO COMPROMISES to placate the listener of either style but rather ALWAYS does it her way ! She is incredibly unique in that regard. I spent the first 6 months of my own fandom being absolutely dumbfounded that she gets away with that…. I personally have never watched a singer with more “ singing charisma “ than Morissette! Her face is hypnotic and her expressions accentuate every note that comes out of her mouth. So what we have here is a girl who is technically brilliant yet she has all the gritty , down and dirty rasp of the emotionally charged vocals you hear in pop and R&B genres. I have been attracted to great female vocalists for 40 years and have a legit working knowledge of dozens of the greats ! For whatever reason Morissette stands out and has me watching her videos over and over again. I’ve never done that before! In conclusion I truly believe she is a once in a generation talent whose versatility is truly remarkable! None of the known KZread “sensations“ can sing every genre like she does. She has a 5 octave range , unlimited versatility, alien magnetism and charisma , unwavering commitment to her style, better live singer than studio , and never ever takes a performance off. Yes they are mostly covers but does anyone have as many epic performances on tape as she does???? Her catalog is massive and she never ever disappoints!!!!! How did I do ? Lol. Really enjoying your appreciation of Mori and look forward to where you go from here. Best of luck with your channel.

You should consider a live Tommy Marz interview with Morisette about her Signature EP. You would get a sense of her personality and character. While the interview is too long for a reaction, it would also introduce you to the five songs on the EP. You could also consider her livestreams she did in 2020 through early 2022. There are so many different songs she did as requests from viewers: My Immortal, playing her keyboard while sitting on her bed; Bleeding Love, while giving a live practice; and so many other livestreams on Facebook, KZread, and Kumu. One performance available is her finale to a concert she did in Cebu, her home province, And I'm Telling You, which is astounding. Two singular videos she did during lockdown in May-June 2020 are Fly Like A Bird and Rise Up (Accapela). Later that year are the videos, Resignation and Moon River/Usahay. There are too many videos and live performances from when she started as a 14 year old in 2010 to present to list here.

A note on the Morisette whistle. She does it often warming up and messing around, but she stated she does not want to be known for her whistle tones. She has s incorporated so many aspects of the vocal process that slipping in and out of it, into notes and out of notes, is just part of her style. What people call the squeak: a very high crystal semitone before and after certain pitches, notes, or runs. It is like her growl. It just seems to happen now days more and more, even though they both sound great and healthy. She is relatively young, 28 in June, and her voice, if she continues to perform, which is her intent, has not matured. May be in another decade.
