Was reading a novel that mentioned this instrument. I had to check it out to see what it was. Turns out I was already listening to it but have no idea that it's called morin khuur. I've always loved Mongolia. The vast grassland, the richness of culture and the brave people. Hopefully one day, I can visit Mongolia. Greetings from a fellow Asian.

Who is she? What's her name? Does she have a KZread channel? She's one of the best morin khuur players I have heard. And she is beautiful, charming and fascinating as well.

Your kind words are appreciated. She is an Inner Mongolian from Tongliao, known by her nickname Kuaikuai. (Might very well be her real name, some Mongols in China use Chinese names, I don't know for sure), There are one or two KZread channels that claim to be hers but they look dubious. Her own channel is here: v.kuaishou.com/qiCPyp Edit: just watched a TV interview of hers. She is a Mongol from Tongliao. Her Mongolian name is Sarantuya, widely known by her Chinese name Sunkuaikuai. Started playing since the age of 8.

Her playing technique is superb, as far as I can tell, and she seems able to play all kinds of music, classical, contemporary, traditional, folk music, etc, with the same natural ease. Edit 2: The KZread channel I linked to is probably just a fan channel that reposts her Douyin videos on KZread, but people who don't have access to Douyin (Chinese TikTok) can find some of her videos there.

She is an eastern Inner Mongolian from Tongliao, very unlikely to be a Halha. Halha tumen (unit of ten thousand) was created in 15th century by Dayan Khan. Present day Halha Mongols number 78.8% of Mongolia's population. There are four small Halha banners outside of Mongolian border, two in Inner Mongolia, one in Qinghai, and one in Jehol.
