Moribayassa
Moribayassa is a spirit and the women sing to ask for favours. They dress with torn and dirty clothes, mismatched, and sometimes add strange things, like a sandal in they hair. Pay attention to the details ;-) I'm gratefull I took the beginning because we see that slowly, the ceremony takes place, naturally, with the singing and eventually, the musicians get their instruments and join in, gathering more and more people around the women. This is the way Malinke people still celebrate life.
This was filmed in Sangbaralla, Guinea. So gratefull to Billy Konate and Famoudou Konate to open their amazing culture to us.

This dance is called the "moribayassa". It's a Mandinka dance. It simulates a crazy person dancing. It is performed by a person when this one, faced with a case of desperate trouble, has pledged publicly to do so in the event that this problem has a favorable outcome.
Wow congratulations 👏🏻👏🏻

Hi Audrey
