My first vid of 2022 was an Arthurian fancast, so it's fitting that this is my first non-collab vid of 2023.
I honestly wasn't sure if Indira would work for Morgause but I'm really glad she does because I love this fancast.
Morgause is more the "evil" sorceress in my version, whereas Morgana is more morally grey. But Morgause isn't really outright evil either. She wants power, but she wants power for her family, not just herself.
A couple shoutouts. First to ‪@ofdurinsfolk‬ because some of this fancast we came up with together. I've also been working out my version of the story through messages to her.

Morgause is the first of three daughters born to Gorlois, the Duke of Cornwall, and his wife Igraine. As a young woman, she shows signs of magic and Merlin takes an interest in her, thinking she could be a powerful ally to aid his own ambitions. He serves as her mentor, but there is an unspoken attraction between them, stemming from their lust for power.
Later, Morgause marries King Lot of Orkney. They develop genuine feelings for each other. They are also both ambitious, though Lot is perhaps more restrained than Morgause. They have four sons together: Gawain, Agravain, Gaheris, and Gareth.
Then Gorlois dies. Morgause expects to inherit Cornwall from her father. Though she is Queen in Orkney, she intends to pass Cornwall to her favorite son, Agravain. However, Uther, the High King of Britain, quickly marries Igraine and folds Cornwall into the Crown's territory. It's also revealed that Uther and Igraine had a son while Igraine was still married to Gorlois. The boy was hidden away by Merlin, but he is now brought into the family. His name is Arthur.
Furious and betrayed, Morgause begins to plot. She suspects that Uther caused Gorlois' death and that Merlin was complicit, if not directly involved. She later poisons Uther, killing him.
Arthur now takes the throne. Instead of giving Cornwall back to Morgause, he gives it to Morgana. Though he didn't intend to slight Morgause, Arthur has made a grave mistake. But Morgana doesn't marry and Morgause believes that Cornwall will still eventually pass to one of her sons.
She curses Guinevere, Arthur's wife, to be unable to have children, meaning that Gawain would become King after Arthur. But Gawain becomes a Knight and grows loyal to Arthur, wanting nothing to do with his mother's plots.
Then Morgana has a son, Mordred. Morgause agrees to raise the boy because Morgana doesn't want the father to find out.
Morgause eventually learns that Mordred is Arthur's son as well, making him the heir. She plots to use him against Arthur, the next best thing to having her own son on the throne.
Gawain sides with Arthur, but Agravain and Gaheris fight with Mordred. When the dust settles, Mordred wins and Arthur is dead. Morgause's sons survive, for now.
