Masters of comedy .. made the impossible look easy , making the mundane funny. This was the combination of genius writing and equally genius performance .

Way before Seinfeld this was a mini sitcom about nothing. Just so entertaining & they have enough chemistry to fill a lab.

I always thought the domestic sketches in the flat were the best things in their show. The parts I liked the least were the big song and dance bits.

You have Eddie Braben to thank for their flat scenes. He felt they needed a home life, and so invented a flat which they shared.

I remember these sketches, when Princess Anne announced her engagement to Captain Mark Philips, Morcambe and Wise’s doorbell range and there stood someone dressed as the Princess in a big hat, they both fell to their knees when they saw the “Princess” 😂

That's why I don't have a TV any longer...dumbed down rubbish on all the time. Gone are the great playwrights, and the new ones don't get a look in . Everything is about plastic celebraties now. The 21st century is about shallowness.

Saw some negative comments but it has to be taken in context of the time it was made. It’s slapstick humour, I would not expect young people to get it but great of that do

This was made in 1970. Ten years later when they moved from the BBC to Thames Television they rehashed this sketch with nearly 90% just copied from this BBC version. That showed how hard up for new material they were at Thames Television from 1980 onward.

They did a few show over there but they didn’t really take off. Mainly due to Eric having little interest in making it big over there. He was happy doing it in the UK.
