Excellent production quality! Audio is perfecto! Very informative, very funny and you seem to highlight the struggles we all go through.
Top work, you had me laughing when you forgot the belt. We have all been there😂 Some oilers that just drip every now and again will help. Also vacuum pump oil has no detergent or other crap in it. Pretty sure you can get it in various grades. I use HFV 32 for the multitude plain bearings on my lathe. Cheers 👍
The coarse diamond abrasive you are using is also contributing to the vibration and poor surface finish
It looked to me like your grinder was already worn through. I think they’re just steel with diamond grit held in place by a thin plating. Maybe yours is different from mine.
what kind of lathe does that head stock go on too? really interested please

It's an old, rather large bench lathe. (pattern maker's lathe) It's either a Karger or an Auerbach.
