BlitzWolf have sent me their BW-MP1 projector for a review and I rather like it. I had some problems with uneven focus, but the electronics are very well made. It was lacking a bit of power in comparison to good ol sun, but I'll take of that!

I was just looking at my cheap little projector today and sparked this idea with my roommate. Then I stumble upon this channel the same day, what a nice coincidence. Great content and hilarious commentary, subscribed!
Hey Marco and everyone! If you have the same problem regarding the uneven focus in corners, i have a found a solution, kind of. Due to the weight of the lens, when you try to focus it, the lens wants to "hang down" due to gravity, which makes focusing corners tricky. As you have seen it on 0:55 , there is a gap between the lens and the projector lens housing(these cheapo projectors do not have a bracket that holds the lens in a stable position). So to eliminate that, you could add a piece of paper to the gap, to make the lens stable enough for focusing. Thanks Marco for making my day great again.
I have a similar projector, that also has the “universal surface schmoo” (glue on the inside near the mirror) my best guess is that this is to capture dust & hair that might get sucked in through the ventilation.
You know, there's a saying about Germans not having a sense of humor, but you were making jokes constantly in this video and it was hilarious. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Cool bathroom! thanks for the video, looks fun.
I love this video very informative. Sir I have a projector similar to this one now. And there is a problem with the display. It is flickering or pulsating there are white lines. When i check inside i found the LCD display is the one flickering. Should i replace it or there could be another issue. Hope you could help. ☺️

I have this same projector. Reliable if a bit dim, but OK in dark and 1080p. Unfortunately the fan sucks in a lot of dust so the internals need cleaning carefully every year or so.
your humor, dude, oh my god im in tears x'D
Hey, any idea where I can get the Universal Surface Schmoo in Europe?
The Xenon arc lamp is more efficient than an LED, but depends on the LED and the rest of the System but they are qutite close
Have you considered the rotating mirror and laser diode assembly from a laser printer to expose PCB's. The LD would need to be to be changed from IR to UV and one would need a Y stage to index to the next line. Got a couple of scanner assemblies to try one of these days. I have seen very impressive results doing this with a laser diode mounted to an ink jet carriage. Scanning on a 75mm sq board took about 20 minutes. The LCD scanning does sound interesting if one can get push enough UV power through the LCD and solve the focus problem. The altern ative is to just make a photo plotter, use wet processing photo film to make high contrast masters for sensitized boards. Guess I should look at the published date before posting.
Worthy addition to big clive and AvE
when you used 100 w led----was there any black spots occuring in image due to lcd overheating ?

for exposing pcbs I'd recommend a dlp projector they can be had quite cheaply second hand if you don't mind low resolutions. and a dlp has much sharper contrast with is supposedly what you want when you expose pcbs
Great video, and hilarious commentary :) I subscribed haha.
Was there ever any specifications on the original unit for comparison such as ANSI lumens?
Try a DLP. not so easy to mod but more interesting, or even and old 3LCD projector like old Epson. Great video!
I have exactly like this projector, i wanna boost up the lumens the lumens just only 1500lm so i wanna increase the lumens. I already got the DIY chips which is 100w. Is it possible to used in this projector.?? 🤔
Realtek, illegible? Looks like your bog standard RTL8188ETV to me. 802.11bgn USB 2.0 adapter.

I would assume it might run some form of Linux, since the Chinese usually can't be bothered to write a bare-metal USB WiFi driver ;)
Too bad he didn't go back to this project, shame.
Hi So what was the power of the led you were using ? And by using an higher power led that cause automatically a lower contrast ? thanks
This is sick. What do you want to do? UV light ?
How do you fix the burn spot on these cheap projectors ? Or can it be prevented ?
Is there a cheap LED projector, usable for facade guerilla beaming? Maybe with an LED exchange. With the brightest buyable LED? Then maybe a mod of the lens, for a larger projection distance. I could use a 4500 ANSI-Lumen Sony Sony VPL-CW255, but it need 325W. For mobile use, it should be operated with a battery for a few hours.
try watercooling the stock LED to remove the noisy fan, keep a silent fan for the lcd and all that
Could you use a projector like this for a 3D printer, modified with a super powerful LED?
German efficiency excellent, thank you for this information.
Very professional explanations. I really want to improve luminosity of my projector. So if you will put some more details, I will watch this more. Thanks.
you will need a 405nm led for the pcb project, since polarizers Block out any uv light below 395nm
Hey Marco, i want to make projector more quiet adding pc heatsink and cooler... how led chip is connected to metal? thermal pads or thermal paste?
hahaha the infomercial bit is awesome!
Was it able to display 1080p? it says its native resolution is 800x480 im thinking of buying one
Your dry Germanic humor pleases me. I wish to reward you with a subscription.
I wish I was smart like this man
did you get around to building that PCB exposer Marco ?
Arc light with UV filter and 2 LCD displays layered
Holy fuck universal surface schmoo??? And star trek references??! Your videos are gold!
Proof that Germans have humor. Maybe it's us who didn't understand it because of that serious tone.
Hi there, greetings from Italy ;) I have a white, non-labeled version of that thing. Mine doesn't have the antenna, so no wi-fi connection. It's awfully noisy. Tried to modify it removing the fan and liquid cooling the led backplate... but doesn't work: the led says cool ofcourse, but the beams it emits somehow overheats and deforms the lcd screen, resulting in a dark blob on the wall after a while. If let cool down, everything gets back to normal and the projectors works fine again. I discovered that the fan somehow draws air from the tunnel where the lcd screen is sitting, cooling it.

the lcd needs also cooling, because the energy from the light needs to go somewhere when there is an black pixel ;)
I subscribed at the Universal Surface Schmoo commercial.
Very well explained...!!! 👌👌👌
Ouh man, ich liebe Deinen Humor einfach :D Jedes Video 50 Lacher! Und seit ich das Video das erste mal gesehen hab, bekomme ich "Universal Surface Shmoo" nicht mehr aus dem Kopf! 😂
Where can I get some of that universal surface schmoo?
Hey Marco Love You video playing around to do the same wanted to know how did you bypass the onboard motherboard sensor for the actual light to get the screen to turn on without the original bulb connected to the ballast.

It is so difficult to use this with so much of fan noise.
BRO did someone beat you to it or did you make the sup'd up Honda version of a projector?
i use to have to have this same projector but ended up giving it away and bought the xgimi h1
great video!! looks like an interesting platform for experimentation. Do you happen to know what the native resolution is? The amazon link doesn't seem to say.

Marco I am planing on buying a Uni-t ut139c multimeter because I need it for checking mains voltage (only if Something isnt working in My house, so not often ) and for my little projects (so low dc current) . Do you think it is suitable for the task? If not can you give me some advice?

The fact that you can buy it means that it has passed a lot of tests by your local authorities and they think it is safe. So you probably wont die :) It is also able to measure 99% of the things you need to measure on a daily basis. But since you are visiting one of my videos, you might get the urge to buy something better soon ...
What true resolution is it on the LCD of it?
7 of 9 ❤

can you upgrade the LCD..example from 720p to 1080p?
I know that episode of Star Trek Voyager.... With Seven of Nine saying those words.. "Let the fun begin"
That was hilarious. Keep it up.
Do you have the size information about this display inside the projector because I would like to replace the LCD display as a smartphone display that can provide higher resolution of course I have to remove the backlight modular of an normal smartphone LCD display

I meant not only replace display but also replace the motherboard and we can use"parsec"to get some sort of low latency video streaming
2:09 incandescent lamp? So far as I know they are xenon or metal halide lamps...
It is made by Unic therefore it is Unic. I prefer the UC80 because it uses a rgb led array that has a more accurate CRI. Than dominate blue, cool white led's.
3:43 is so on point :D
nice idea
Me weekly buying cheap things off Taobao and taking them apart for fun: That's too expensive. Sees upload date: well, I suppose it's fine Love your implementation of that toothpaste ad, not expecting to see that from your channel.
voyager refrence. YESSSS
I can't heare the Sound of your Projektor because Mine is so loud 😅
Nice one!
Isn't the contrast lower due to the own reflections of the projection? The projector is now illuminating the bathroom and shines back into the dark regions.
why not change the lcd to?
The LCD would not like the strong UV light.
Enjoyed it
schmoo appart, dises ist ein echt guter video. I almost got to put in my hizek a lamp from a sony and realized de amount of volts is just about 12V more than it can handle. As your very technical test resulted in high contrast, I abandonned the game. It seems easyer for me to buy a more expensive HD projektor tahn ruin this little gadget. Thanks for your effort, i appreciate it. Danke
I like how you don't even try to hide your german accent
All purpose schmoe. Nice.
LOL the cut to the chinese advertisement is gold.
I didn't understand what you're talking about regarding UV... One thing you must be careful about when considering boosting brightness is to not fry the LCD. It's not only the LED that needs cooling. I've seen a few projectors eventually get a permanent brown stain in the image because it wasn't cooled well enough on stock units. You'll need more airflow to it also. Also, your contrast in the bathroom after boosting has absolutely nothing to do with your light source. The LCD determines the contrast if the driving electronics and optical pathway are unchanged. Did you let LED light leak around the LCD and optical elements? The darkest areas of the image are obviously ambient light. Try it again in a dark room. Otherwise great video!
