Just subscribed. I've got 2 230 blocks with the thick mains and have been enjoying your content on 400 Chryslers.

Funny that you mention align honing and the rear main seal. Nick from Nick's Garage had to redo the rear main on an align honed block SEVEN times before he got it sealed. One thing he did to fix the situation is cut down the aluminum block.

You have good knowledge of the basic design of Crysler blocks. Good video👍 As someone said you went from a stock block to top fuel. I would have like to see what your option on the(what i call middle class blocks)interesting 🤔keepem coming.

Thanks brother, yes for sure. Somewhere down the road , i will do a video on prepping a 440 production block for higher HP applications. This particular 440 block was in my Duster from the street racing days. Thanks for watching 👍

Looks like a rebuild that went very bad and the cam went bad and all the metal was pumped through the block taking out the bearings, looks like they didn't own a torque ranch.

Last year a old man came up to me and started talking that he had a 1970 Dodge truck that had a slant six in it that he wanted rebuilt . He knew his stuff that he wanted .030 pistons and seats installed in the head . What he wanted was to trade 4 used motors he collected since he was young 318 , 340 , 360 . 383 and he thought the 383 was rebuilt because it had fresh paint on it . His friend owned a local junk yard and all came from wrecked cars . This is in Corpus Christi Texas and it does freeze here but he said he pulled them as soon as his friend got them . Then after this meeting 2 weeks later some guys had a blue 71 Duster with white stripe on a trailer heading towards town . It didn't have a engine in it but the body was garage kept , I think it could had been polished out . 1+1 = 1 sh-t !@#$%^

383 in a Duster is a good combination. I had a 71 Duster years ago with a .030 over 400. Very fun car.

Those dollys wheels start egg-shaping their holes and not wanting to roll on the little axle. The "capwalk" looks like someone pulled the pan with a dusty environment, and put it back together quick (to sell?)

What's your opinion on main cap "girdles" that tie in all the main caps to presumably prevent cap walk and add overall strength to the mains. As for the cross bolted mains, the ford 427s that were pretty stout in drag racing, nascar, and lemans had cross bolted mains and deep skirted block like the Chryslers.

I have never used a girdle on a BB Mopar, I have always used aluminum main caps with ARP studs with great success. That being said, i am sure a girdle cant hurt and probably helps to a point. How much it helps is the million dollar question. Depending what you are doing, a 230 CW block with aluminum caps and ARP main studs is a great starting point. If your goals are approaching a thousand horse power i would be looking at a after market block, Keith Black , INDY, ect. As far as the FE Ford deep skirted block, yes the bottom end is very similar to a BB Mopar with the cross bolted mains. WAY back in my street racing days there was a Ford that used to be seen on Gratiot Avenue ( a local cruising strip north of Detroit) that said on his license plate "SOHC". I think it was a Galaxie? he was supposed to be fast. That car was featured in Hod Rod Magazine back in the early 1980s. Definitely a very cool car but it was a big car and looked heavy, but still very unique and probably the only street driven "Cammer" i have ever seen. Jim.

I'm a big believer in these 400 stroker motors !!!! I have made big power with factory blocks !!! I like your show so far but your all over the place. !!! You got into top fuel blocks and stuff that none of us are ever gonna touch or want !!! Can't use any of it on street cars !!!! And the argument in splay caps cross bolted and four bolt that's Chevy stuff !! Except the cross bolt Ford even had a cross bolt on there early 427 I believe don't hold me to it tho I can be wrong I just know they used cross bolt at one point on there big ho motors in the day !!! And what I'm saying to. Is your building nice street mtoor and saying B-1 heads there old and way to big to use and even rhink ahout using them and you mentioned when you want to go bigger you have the head for it but won't work that way !!!! The head is way to big for a motor thats gonna be streetabke !!!! And if you stick a giant head on a street motor it won't make any power anywhere !!! Maybe if you scream it but waist of time same thing as building a massive high compression big cam bottom end and using a stock head. It won't work if you can't get the air in and out fast enough then big bottom end is worthless and other way around same issue !!!! Using big flowing head. Cuase you mite go bigger later will do nothing but hurt you and kill your power !!!!!

Last thing as far as Mopar big block motors to try to machine one and cross bolt or fourbolt is not gonna happen and there strong allready and main reason why they are steonge then. Gm and shit is becuse the crank sits in block not on top like Chevy that's why Chevy has all those issues !!!! Mopar stuff is strong out of box and don't need all that four bolt shit like motors that have crank layed on top of block but yea !!! You start looking to make like 700 or more yea start looking other options like the cratle !!! It bolts onto main cap bolts and oil pan bolts that thing works great !!!!!!!! And will keep block. Strong !!!!!!!

My dad had a 1967 440 interceptor out of a TDPS car that was a death car ! The trooper crashed it into a Oak tree in South Bexar county back in 67 . My dad b-tched about it costed more to rebuild the heads ( valve seats ) than to overhaul the motor . his friend Bill painted the motor and kept the orig. Interceptor stickers on the valve covers . Punching it would break the web plate johnny on the spot due to wheel hop . The motor had 22 K when they pulled it .

It's all good my friend, it all depends what you are doing. I would never run B1 heads on a daily driver, but i would run them on my next 512 Wedge engine that I plan of making 800+ horse power. 400 CFM on the intake runner is not big numbers now a days. No different on my next Chevrolet build I do, it will be a 540 + cubic inch with heads that flow over 400 CFM. The Indy HEMI heads I have flow over 450 CFM on the intake runner and over 300 CFM on the exhaust. This is what I normally use to build for 8 to 9 hundred horse power. My channel will be all over the place, stay tuned you never know what my next video will be about. The heads Chrysler offered on their Wedge engines are way to small for anything but a stock rebuild, they are out of steam at 600 lift and have a horrible combustion chamber with the spark plug in a bad location. Back in my street racing days , you never bring a knife to a gun fight. Thanks for watching my videos 👍
