A good friend installed a second on the driver side awning as well - for trailers using the 12v/propane dual fridge, when it’s on that side, the solar shade does wonders to stabilize fridge operations in summer sun and heat.

That's an excellent idea! We may have to consider that for the new trailer.

I have to admit, when I read the title, I thought you were installing a "solar" shade for more solar power. ooooof. That said, I love this and am getting one. As usual, well done and well explained and demonstrated. My taped on solar panel addition is still running strong!!!

Hi Brad! I love to see creative solutions. I just saw a FB post from a guy who put a solar shade on the utility side to shade his fridge. I never thought to do that but now I'm going to get some of the same mesh we use to keep the greenhouse temps down and make my own for that side. Oh also - we have new solar power projects in the works!!

We always enjoy your videos. We have the same Zip Dee solar shade and can attest that it works great. We laughed at your text block to just lower the awning during installation - we were thinking the same thing!

I don't know why I forget I can tip the awning!! Barry and I watched your install video twice before installing ours! Thanks so much for watching. We really appreciate your support. We are really disappointed we won't be able to make it to the International this year. We're definitely planning for next year!

Use a 3x5 index card to measure the distance around the drum to make sure it is consistent across the awning drum/roller instead of eyeballing it to be centered. So eyeball it, make a tick on the index card, then use it as a reference for all of the next hole locations. Thanks for the video, I have your exact Airstream. 2022 23FBT Globetrotter.

Hi Robert. You - are - brilliant. Excellent tip. Thanks for watching and for sharing. I'm going to use that tip when I install my home-made shade on the utility side awning.

I added another snap so I could reposition both left or right based on the screen needs to block the sun.

Hi Brian - that is so smart. We will likely do that when we get our new trailer. Thanks so much for watching.

Another great video. I hate anything to do with Zip Dee. Just that name is a sore subject with me. They should use the same track as all the other awning company's so you don't have to buy a special shade. I use the one from my fifth wheel. I just clamp it on.

Thanks so much! I am 100% with you on the track. It could be designed that way for a universal shade. I like your idea about reusing. We're looking at generic shade material to make one for the utility side of the trailer.

It’s real hard to find a rivet gun made in USA I’m still looking.
