​@American Nationalist Its not always even "BEST WAYS TO WIN". Post scriptum, and Hell let loose for instance are two games that are slowly being ruined because alot of players are just IMPATIENT. They are both Milsim games, with long spawn times, your Squad leader can put spawn points down for you, and its all taking place on a MASSIVE MAP. YET, even with all those things, you would assume players would stick together, work as a team, and play patiently.! What happens though.? You literally have the entire player base on both sides just running around doing whatever they want. No coercion, no organized assaults, no organized defence just nonsense. Not only does this ruin the game, but most of these players arent even getting kills. So yes, it is a real thing. The player base can ruin a game, and often does.

@American Nationalist It's not about role play in those games. For example the first thing you see in Hell let loose especially is movement. You'll see black shades running off on the distance that give away the enemy position. If you have your squadron pre-propositioned, hiding and scanning the distance you'll be able to lay decently accurate fire when they are 300-400m out. Now when I said players on post scripting and Hell let loose just run around and do whatever. I wasn't putting enough emphasis on the whatever. I often implement basic milsim tactics in these games with friends and if I'm defending, you'll see a constant stream (2-3) every minute from one main direction, usually the direction of the closest spawn. Then you'll have the solo dudes who are always trying to flank. All of which will just run directly at my squads position, die, respawn, and repeat. The point of all of this basically is they are Milsim games, what seems like "Roleplay" is just team work and coordination.

Like Squad community rarely do that, they always coordinate even though some really suck at decision, but at least the whole squad always work together sometimes the whole team work together to win the game without having some solo player running around the map alone being idiot.

Anyone that can't properly kick a shield / parry pokes / counter poke is definitely gonna get ruined lmao. This game rewards people who have high mechanical skill, those who suck will get poked to death easily. Executioner's sword is slow and strong, can easily be parried as well.

The funniest part about this video is everyone disliked it cause they were mad, yet Sam was still right in the end. It may have taken a little bit longer the he anticipated, but he’s still right

It caught on quickly simply because a lot of people thought it was cool. Mordhau is intended for a small but dedicated audience, not a large one.

I played against a guy who clearly spent too much time playing Chiv because this fucking guy would swing straight up into the sky, not even looking at you, and then maneuver the blade down onto you. Its not the wild backpack dead angle shit but a little fuckery is just inevitable.

@@whywhy8324 there is very VERY few actual "dead angles" in Mordhau by design. They actively designed the game to avoid them and make more... questionable... moves more consistent. They did a really good job. If you practise parrying and chambering, you can beat anyone.

A year later, this game has one of the most toxic communities around. A regular player count of sub 4k (first week sold 500k copies). And a total overhaul of the gear system that makes twohanded weapons the almost exclusively viable weapons. General Sam is truly an Oracle of our times.

That's basically right on the money. The community killed this game, and the Mordhau devs pushed the combat system into a realm that felt far different than the original one. The new combat system was supposed to make things like frontline more fun because of them allowing for more fast-paced options, but the issue was that using one of those options likely got you killed, like a jump kick in a team fight. I feel like Mordhau suffers from the fact that they started making the game based on duels, and then made frontline their main mode. The mechanics of the game feel too clunky for frontline a lot of the time, and now that the game's old nearly everyone is able to punish any mix-ups you throw out. It's become a game that's just "don't react to anything but a swing and then riposte or chamber, even though chambering is now basically useless because of its window being as small as a parry at this point." I honestly just hope that Mordhau gets a complete rework at some point. They need to focus on either frontline or duels, and make it so that different weapons have different pros and cons outside of "this one is slow and can hit walls but it does a lot of damage," and, "this one is fast and deadly but is small and can get knocked out of your hand easily." I feel like the devs should instead take an approach that makes every single weapon feel unique in a sense. Make the parry window unique to every weapon, with smaller armaments having shorter parry times and larger ones with longer parry times, offering an offensive and defensive approach to things. But I digress. I'm thinking of things that are far too big for Mordhau, and am simply wishing at this point. Here's to hoping that Mordhau changes to an extent, and becomes either more methodical or more fast paced and reaction based.

@@kibbleknight2156 hate to say it mate but you're fairly wrong on this one. I play mainly duels and official brawl, rarely playing frontline. Chambers are extremely viable and often very powerful when combining them with a feint or accel and once you get the timing down are fairly easy to perform but cost a lot of stamina so there is a trade off. I would also argue most weapons feel unique (unless they're in the same category like the longsword, great sword etc) but even then you can dramatically feel the difference between the two. Anyway I can't be bothered to write anymore. Start a discussion mate.

@@Zombinejerry i know im late to the party but footwork is the key for good readability. Yourself can manipulate the swing by contourning your opponent. Took a while, but now i can say that drags and accels are not a problem for me anymore. You just gotta look really close at the hands and you'll figure it out. Everything has a counter. You just have to take the time and learn it. Its not an easy game, duel yards are rough, no doubt, but to get really good at the game, you need to withstand getting butchered althought thus may not be an appeal for people wich is fair and understandable

@nerd Surfer its not that it cant be criticized, it's that anyone who doesn't find it funny is because they took it seriously because they have a stick too far up their ass and play too much of the game. the only people that dislike sam's content are usually sweaty try hards that hate when people try to have their own fun in a game.

Idk man, the servers I've played on were run by toxic dickholes and kids. One of the few saving graces is that it's really hard to be toxic when the game was made to be as unobtrusive as possible. I kinda gave up playing it.

Tbh i didn't realize that it was a joke because of how right he is sometimes in his claims of this game. That is untill i read the comments and it wasn't a serious and was a joke. Next time i should listen closely to the obvious.

It hurts how accurate this video is now. "Play this before the community ruins it" missed that boat

Six months ago I disliked this video. At the Time Mordhau was one of my favorite experiences of all time in gaming. The combat was smooth. The animations and scenery was gorgeous. It was everything I wanted in a medieval multiplayer game. It was the reason I switched to PC gaming in the first place. Any notion that such a fun game (for me) could die so suddenly and horribly honestly made me salty. It just “could not happen”. Then suddenly i started noticing it. The empty lobbies, the dead servers, even after Feitoria the game is without people playing. It is so saddening.

Mordhau was never hyped, it was never meant for mass appeal. It caught on quickly simply because a lot of people thought it was cool. Mordhau is intended for a small but dedicated audience, not a large one.

3 months after this video, i come back to Mordhau. The prophecy is true, the game is not what is was 3 months ago at all, any newcomer can barely manage for the first 30 hours at LEAST and I've seen it with my own eyes. God dammit I miss the first few weeks of this game.

The problem with Chiv and Mordhau is if you dont exploit the mechanics like this the only thing any fight will be about is who runs out of stamina first. The only way i can see to fix this problem is momentum based damage instead of phase based damage. Since both mord and chiv use phase based damage it allows people to figure out moves that break the animations.

Yeah dude, the "meta" always drains all the fun out of games. You can have a game with thousands of guns in it but there's only going to be like 10 worth using anyway and shit gets stale really fast.

And beyond that everything is overly monetized with lootboxes and built around inconveniencing players enough that they pay money for the skins/cosmetics they want. Nothing is built just to be fun except single player indie games. And the fucking politicization drains the little remaining fun even further. I haven't bought a game since rd2 and I have no intention of buying another. Gaming sucks.

he was so right. now the community is split to beginners, level 20-25s who are stuck on that level bc they are constantly being crushed by the nex group: the level 100+ maul tards. they know every mechanical aspect of the game and usually having 20 ping max, making them undefetable and just destroying the experience

Level is just total time played which includes time spent in the menu, it isn't necessarily indicative of skill. It does take some time to become proficient at Mord tho.

(long ass wall of text, please bare) as someone who had to play with geforce now due to shit pc and experienced completely losing control in very heated fights, someone who is just level 14, all I have to say is that I found the game fun and I didn't feel like the other players were cheating by using a specific build or whatnot. I always told myself that I'm just not that good at the game and the lag automatically handicapped me. And I had fun playing anyways. I think a lot of new players just unconsciously have this mindset that they're going to be able to beat another player who is currently using a meta weapon with only a few hours of gameplay. Everyone in cs:go uses the ak-47 (unless the scope gun became the new meta for good), and most players using **different** guns end up losing against said ak. Why would mordhau be any different? You don't usually see people running around trying to use a hoe as a viable weapon unless they're deliberately handicapping themselves. So why would you do the same with non meta weapons and expect it to work any better? Because the weapon looks cool? Because it offers different stats? If that's the case, then why would you complain about some weapons doing more damage than your weapon? Would you suggest that the damage to be the same as the maul? What solution is there? And no, "fix the balance" is not a solution. Where there is a game, there is a meta, no matter how minor it is. Unless you were to make all weapons fundamentally identical, which I assume is not what you want. So I say unless you have a very good solution that doesn't leave anyone out, you should stop complaining about the meta and either adapt and have fun playing the game the way it was intended to be played or find something else to play.

Mordhau is Chivalry, but actually good. Mordhau is literally designed to avoid the crazy drags you could do in Chivalry. Your sword's blade not only isn't active for nearly as long, it also has reduced damage when you drag.
