I ve seen it in many oldschool videos, they did something in the past that produced better quality sound, even in recordings from camers mics. I believe it was a combination of non scooped effects (eg more "organic" distortions that do not destroy the mids), non scooped and tighter amps than nowadays ridiculous multistage ones that amputate mid freqs and promote only bass and treble and, last but not least, probably more skillful people on the console itselves if the recoding is direct. All those instruments and technology of today have made things so sterile, the harmonics and overall instrument identity are missing.

David Vincent's voice used to sound like he was being spoken through by fallen angels. Now he sounds like a constipated Kermit the Frog.

I've seen them in Italy 4 times ... no one will reach this perfection and power ... dave vincent has the best voice in the scene. pete ... jeje, pete sandoval. trey comes directly from hell ...

The funny thing about 3:30 is that on the 'Heretic' drum check, Pete Sandoval does the exact same thing to their producer.. "Pete, let me hear your kick drum, please"

I Am Morbid are doing a Covenant 30y Anniv. Tour right now. Saw them 4 days ago with Dave Vincent and Pete "The Feet" Sandoval playing all that epic shit from Altars of Madness to Dominate.

Amazing, what an energy!

All things considered, you have to understand that it's very hard for any one band to be as big NOW as Morbid were THEN. ( It hardly matters that there are acts out there now that have more stage presence or that Morbid isn't the 'ONE' anymore. Morbid's generation MADE them.

God I wish I could've been around to see them back then.

Saw them live in 89 when Tony from Vital Remains paid them to play a show in Providence RI with them. Awesome fucking show! Saw newer Morbid a couple years ago and it wasn't the same. Satyricon and Suffication blew them off the stage. oh well. Great video! Maze of Torment was a favorite.

Maybe. Both bands have very talented people, like Trey, or like Pat O Brien, they both have their good and bad albums, and their own style. But yeah I consider that Morbid Angel is way more creative anyway imo. Btw Cannibal with Chris and Morbid with David (before Illud obviously) were really awesome.

If a time machine is invented, I will be back there!
