There were a lot of different factories but mostly in the Dalarna region where Mora is. Everyone living in the countryside here in Sweden had a bunch of them old knives with red handles They will be in good use for many generations if you take care of them. Really a piece of history you got there.

Nice size and shape. Had my brother make me knife which is similar length and width, but narrows more gradually to the tip, for inserting into joints on animals and severing the ligaments.

Swedish birch wood is really tough. I am surprised the fitter used a steel hammer on it.

Maybe a True Classic? With leather sheat? Limited edition 1 of 500 and so on, some better handle, just polished then slightly burnt, then polished again and then oiled and polished? Try on one handle and look how good it turn out (or bad).

Please Morakniv, do the Classic line knives, have a higher hadness (hrc) on their Carbon steel, than the other models that come with polymer handles? Thanks in advance

What they mean when they say it’s “part of you” is that it’s what’ll be sticking out of your back when they find you in the early hours of the morning, in a pile of scattered birch branches, after the sauna brawl induced partly by the vodka and partly by general Madness of Mid-winter Melancholy but more particularly by you going on and ON about Mishka…

Love my Mora knives! .... But who's head of advertising over there? Some of these ads are kinda wonky - like this one. Cue model in old style classic clothing walking through a meadow of tall grass, on a sunny afternoon. Add old timey music. Now show the cold, impersonal 'modern' machinery making this wonderful, old classic?!?! *Doh!* Sometimes these Mora ads seemed so ill conceived... at least to my mind, anyway. YMMV. Love my Mora knives!
