Pretty excited to see that you got a review copy of this one. I ADORE this game and I think I will find something to like in each of the expansions. Although I think Overload will be my favorite too. Those new action cards will make deckbuilding so much more flexible. Great review, as always!

Thanks for the overview and thoughts on each expansion. I’ve been interested in this campaign since I don’t own it until I saw that the base game is the same price as ordering it now (?!?] I was expecting a slight KS discount, however I also appreciate the expansions being packaged separately. It’s nice to be able to pick and choose instead of being forced to go all in to get a certain one

I have read and heard some complaints that the base game can vary a lot in how long it is, and that there is a lot of downtime if you play with 5 people. What do you think about that, and do the expansions fix that?

I think if your group isn't particularly interactive with negotiations then 5 players would be grueling. Also if you are in a sizable lead and are excluded from participating in missions because players don't want to help you it could be a while to get back around to you. That said this is the type of game where I really prefer 3 or maybe at most 4 players. As far as the expansions go, no, I don't think they'd help with anything. Nomad's events give a bit more forced interactivity at the beginning of a round but I didn't find it too meaningful and if anything slows things down a bit. Binding Ties encourages more participation but that still doesn't resolve the issue you're describing. Personally, I don't think turns are too long in the game and experienced players can rotate things around pretty fast, but again, I would say the sweet spot is 3.

@@TheCardboardHerald Thanks for the reply. I'll add it to my check out list as a bit lower priority then. It would fit my bigger playgroup, but I can probably find games that play faster and are more interactive with 5-6p. It's a shame because it looks really nice. Oh well!

eh? The player count isn't limited. The game has always been 3-5 players. Only the software companion can be done with two players..

Totally reasonable! There are a lot of great games out there, and not all of them need to be expensive to be polished beauties.
