They even added vibrato to the voice. Incredible

it's not ai, never was. moonbase alpha is a tts (text to speech) system (and i think vocaloids are too) (vocaloids are things like hatsune miku). the new stuff isnt real ai either, but there's a lot more to that conversation.

I'm gonna lose it when it sings "Fly me to the moon."

This song is using AI Voice Synthesis software with Perfect Paul's voice. Also, DECtalk is literally voice synthesis software, it just wasn't as advanced and didn't include an overglorified-autocorrect-robot.

If art ever dies. We make a new one. Don't ever lose hope. It breaks my heart to see a song so beautiful in a medium that I love so much being made by AI, I don't want AI to take over art, but I want more content like this to exist. I've seen a guy doing it the old-fashioned way, and I already thought "Someday AI will be doing this, and since it takes so long for a human to do it we won't be able to compete" and here it is. My best nightmare, becoming reality.

Okay but hear me out: Making songs with moonbase alpha isn't ai and it takes many many hours of work. It's just a text to speech (and not a great one at that) and it requires the user to create the text. The way people create these songs is by giving the text to speech very specific commands down to the length, pitch, and volume of phonemes. If they don't use phonemes the audio comes out as bad as you would expect.

As someone who has listened to quite a lot of moonbase alpha / dectalk Paul covers I think the ai has done a good job. It sounds very much like the original moonbase text to speech but it sounds a bit smoother than the original.

You do realize long before AI Voice Synthesis was used, there were still programs outside of Moonbase Alpha that allowed you to make songs easier right?@@Monke227- Vast majority of people who make MBA song covers *dont use MBA or DECtalk.* Besides, theres an obvious difference between programs like UTAU and whatever they used for this song cover, you can hear it in how Paul sings.

It took the voice recordings a man was hired to do as "Paul" and used the various tones and words he used as a base for speaking out words put into it. AI isn't replicating a TTS. The TTS software itself that Moonbase Alpha used (DECtalk) was replicating a person's voice in the same way that modern AI Voice Synthesis does, it just wasn't as advanced, ya nitwit.

Yeah it's fine to be stressed but you could atleast do something about it, it's not the end of the world even if you didn't and if you did you're helping the thousands if not millions of people who are doing something about it 3. Honestly, AI voice synthesis isn't that much of an issue, we just need some regulations for it and some laws put in place so that any commercial use of it pays the people who's voice is actually being used, etc etc. There are some other AI issues that are more stressful like Sora if you want something to cry about.
