Weird thing about Matriarch. I got one more than 1.5 years ago, and made A LOT of music with it. I literally fell in love with this great synth. But after a year I decided to sell it as I got tired of that sound, not that it's bad or something, but it became kind of boring to me. I sold it, and started missing it! I got another one, was really happy for the first month with it, and now I'm "meh" again. Thinking of selling it again, even though I know it's stupid 🥴

matriarch could do very different athmosphere but it demand a certain effort, going out of well known way, patching on very innovative way, testing different configurations of switch… And then you enter in new universe.

I really like the grandmother. Been on the fence thinkin of upgrading to matriarch but i finally decided its not worth it. Grandmother covers enough of a moogy sound pallet for me and theres other polyphonic synths at the same price point of the matriarch that have way more features. Matriarch is a lovely luxurious synth but im gonna hold off for now.

@@Frakaphoto Totally agree! I made a lot of releases using JUST my Matriarch - pads, basses, all kinds of effects and even all drums. Also, there is "Having fun with Moog Matriarch" series on my channel where I try to push its boundaries. The thing is that it has its certain sound, soft and mellow even while being gritty and dirty - it's still that soft and "clean" in some way. It's really difficult to explain. And that made me pretty bored even considering the fact that Matriarch is really "vibey" and inspiration to work with. I'm thinking about Pro 3 though... It may sound really aggressive and it has a lot of great features.

@@DietSodium Pro 3 is quite a different beast. Definitely more versatile with 3 totally different filters and an awesome sequencer. Only 3 osc though (one is digital), only 3 octaves keyboard, and limited integration with modular. But I cannot imagine how one could ever get bored with it.

It helps me to set my synths aside and come back to them after a while. I have a habit of just sitting and listening to my synths and it causes them to sound stale after a while. I just love the way they sound. After buying and selling quite a few, I'm learning to just set them aside and only use them sparingly. Some of them are shelved for months at a time.
