Ah the original symphonic mixing of Rock! Today we have symphonic metal thanks to this early work done by the Moody Blues. This is their signature song that is a quiet cry about love and it's impact on a person, suffering but done with a melodic flare that is just hypnotic at times. Great reaction and good discussion and I love how music gets people talking about their interpretation of the song and it's meaning which of course, is impacted by one's own life experiences.

For the longest time I thought it was Knights in White Satin, in my youth. I pictured majestic knights riding their noble steeds across the green fields of England. Of course it is a love song I understand now. Either way it is one of my favorite songs ever. A true classic.

Yay! There is a poem the drummer wrote that is pretty good as well, lyrical to wrap the album up. They have great songs about consciousness like Yes. The Moodies have a song, "The Word is Om" Kula Shaker has a similar sentiment in "Golden Avatar" 'In the beginning was the word and the word is Om...'

You have to hear the full length album version, from the "Day of Future Passed" album, a masterpiece - this track, in full seven minute length, is the last of the album, which was about a complete 24 hour cycle of a full day. It is an effing travesty the Moody Blues aren't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and just makes the R&RHOF a bigger joke.

I understand that he was not referring to the knights Templar...I just took a little literary license to imagine the song another way. The Templars of the crusades did wear white satin attire with a big red cross. I just took it as a young knight who made have had a love interest and gave it all up to pursue the cause of freeing Jerusalem...Peace! @@jamesanderson5268
