The ending with Jason coming out of the lake was actually supposed to be a dream. They never intended a sequel or thought there would be one. When this one scored huge box office, Paramount saw dollar signs and a franchise was born.

This was made as a cheap grind house movie for drive ins, but after Halloween’s success, the publicity department decided to advertise it as a legitimate thriller, of course releasing it on a Friday the 13th weekend. i bet their publicity campaign cost more than the movie but boy did it pay off.

@@anjealousanaconda9692 You're thinking of Halloween, actually. That was the original idea for Halloween, different stories all taking place on Halloween night (hence why the third movie has nothing to do with Michael Myers). There was never meant to be a sequel to Friday the 13th. The guy who made the first movie actually refused to take part in the sequels because it wasn't what he wanted.

  • @MariuigiKhed

@@judaihyuga No, they actually meant to do separated anthology movies like Halloween they DID explicitily say they wanted to copy Halloween, after all. And JUST like Halloween, the killers were too godamn good that the audience wanted more. Halloween then tried to do a second episode with "Season of the Witch" (after giving the audience a second Micheal Myers story) but it didn't worked out. Friday, then, had that "Goosebump"/"Grimm"/"Are you afraid of the dark" styled TV show.

@@MariuigiKhed you're gonna have to site where you read that then, because any behind the scenes features I've watched never mentioned anything of the sort. Halloween inspired the slasher elements, I don't deny that, but nothing I've watched or read ever stated that they were going to copy the original concept. Victor Miller, the writer for the original movie. Had no intention of continuing the series and none of the sequels had his approval. He flat refused to return for any of them.

Honestly, Pamela Vorhees is probably my favorite slasher movie villain, purely because she looks nothing like what you'd expect *from* a slasher villain. She looks so normal and sweet at first glance, but it's so unsettling when she starts talking to herself as if her son is there. I'm way more creeped out by baddies that are totally possible and believable than I am monsters.

@@AlandaParker btw. When watching these old movies keep in mind 2 things. 1. The US population has increased drastically. The US population in 1980 was only about 1/4 of the current population. And 2. We live in what is literally the safest time in human history (yes let that sink in for a hot min) and the side effect of that is people (least in first world nations) can't accurately judge danger. They usually either under estimate or over estimate how dangerous things are. In the 70s and 80s people usually under estimated danger. However since 9/11 people usually tend to over estimate danger. Take covid as an example. Covid has a roughly 99.7% survival rate but people are freaking out like it's the Spanish flu or black death.

That poor snake was real, and was actually killed in the scene. Even worse, he was a pet snake and the director didn't tell its owner that they were going to kill his pet.

I don't know what nonsense I was doing with my life 2 yrs ago when you made this reaction, but I am now binging all your old reactions! You are getting me through the Juneteenth 2024 heatwave! When you said, "Are you gonna let her slap you to death?", I almost swallowed my tongue!😂😂😂

Loved your reaction to this movie. Not too many of my friends enjoy horror, so it’s like I’m watching with a friend. You had me cracking up, “girl, leave your pants on, there’s a killer.” 💀 Subscribed. Keep being awesome. 😊 Edit: “the audacity of this killer.” I swear I’ve said that so many times when watching horror movies. So good. 🤣

It's such a good detail that Annie shows no hesitation to get in the Jeep because it makes sense she wouldn't be afraid to get in a car with a middle-aged woman in a cable knit.

Back when this movie came out, I saw it at a Drive-In Theater in Arkansas surrounded by woods and when it was cold in the movie it was cold around me. The trees were blowing around and it felt like you were in it.

April Fool's Day was so polarizing at the time but I think now people appreciate it more for what it is. Lots of great 80s actors in it which ups the appeal tremendously.

10:12 That was a snake performer and pet owned by a guy who didn't know they were going to kill it. Tom Savini asked to borrow it and they hacked it up without warning. I found that out from the Kill Recount of Friday The 13th from Dead Meat.
