You have a point, but Behringer also makes pretty decent stuff with a price point that’s probably 1/5 what chase bliss pedals cost. I am a regular dude. I LOVE effect pedals. Especially delay based ones. Chase Bliss blow the competition away when it comes to delay pedals. But I know I’ll probably never get to own one. And that can be a bummer. Mind you, they deserve every penny of it. But it is very much so out of a lot of musicians price range.

Not to be a dick about it and this truly is a serious question. At what point are devices like this just a prefab, boxed random creativity generator at a premium price? @@sub-jec-tiv Please don't misunderstand me, this is one hell of a devices and the output is stunning but there does come a place with self generating systems, which I hope we can agree that this is, that the input doesn't matter. These systems have been around for a while and I have no innate disapproval or disagreement with the general concept and have built many myself. With these systems the manipulate sound generated by the initial input is so substantially modified that the system itself then creates the actual composition. That is sort of the point. Back in the day it was done with delay loops and triggered gates, side chained compressors etc. but in the past these systems were the part of the creation and were generated specifically for an individual piece and were the result of a lot of time and creative engineering. Digital has changed all that and now we have these amazing devices that are basically plug and play. My question is if you have this amazing device that all you have to do is throw in a couple of notes to achieve this amazing output the parameters of which are defined by the architecture of the device itself where is the true authorship of the output? The question is not about ethics (micro or macro) but about the place of the creator when presented with such powerful tools and how does personal creativity not get subsumed by the tool.

@@Disgustedbutnotyetamused I think that you nailed it in calling the MOOD a tool. It is used to work on a certain task, this one being creative output, but it does not accomplish the task without a user. Another way to think about this would be an interactive instrument to be played with your initial audio input, and I do believe the MOOD gives more than enough control to sufficiently play it as an instrument. A contrary example might be the Microcosm (no offense meant sorry!), which generates incredible sounds but has less control over the way those sounds are finetuned and interact with your incoming signal, hence a little less bidirectional. So in other words, I would think of the MOOD as being as prefab as a synth having oscillators or a guitar being prepared to sound. It'll make sound, but it definitely takes some creativity to do something aesthetically engaging with it.

@@jesseasch-ortiz6136 Thanks for the reply and I take your point of it being a tool. I rewatched the tutorials and there is definitely more than enough potential for manipulation and control to justify defining the device an instrument unto itself. I have no doubt that in the right hands it could be an amazing tool. There is always that point with electronic music where you see the new technology transcend from the stage of being a cool technical exercise to being an artistic tool that allows for something truly unique to be created. I would have to take the dance to know but I do fear she is too much lady for me however. I look forward to seeing what people are able find.
