I’ve seen this movie over 20 times and it’s just today that I noticed Sir Lancelot is wearing a helmet during the entire scene because John Cleese is playing Tim. Didn’t do a double shoot like they usually do 😂

Tim the Enchanter seems to focus more on evoking than enchanting. xD

The Tim joke was great, because I was expecting the name Merlin. MP at their best xD

Lets be honest in addition to being hilarious this was a very well made film. The cinematography in the opening shots are phenomenal

If I play Skyrim again will call my DB ‘Tim the Enchanter’ due to my use of my favourite elemental burst spell!!

It’s not ad lib. Tim was always in the script.

I think the best part of this is the urban myth going around about the name Tim people seem to have trouble believing it could be so simple in the actual script, but keep in mind both the age of the movie and the fact that the Pythons we are talking about.

My friend once drew me a portrait of this guy with the "there are some who call me... Tim?" quote. I had it framed.

I found a relative on Ancestry DNA called CallMeTim I thought it might be John Cleese. He is just as eccentric though :)

As they approach they see an impressive WIZARD figure striding around conjuring up fire from the ground and causing various bushes and branches to burst into flame. ARTHUR What manner of man are you that can conjure up fire without flint or tinder? TIM I am an enchanter. ARTHUR looks at BEDEVERE. ARTHUR By what name are you known? TIM There are some who call me Tim? ARTHUR Greetings Tim the Enchanter! TIM Greetings King Arthur. In the first known draft from early 1973 he wasn't called Tim as the character hadn't yet been conceived. But the moment the character appears, he is always called 'Tim' and nothing else. In the audio commentary for the DVD, at no point does any Python suggest that the name was supposed to be a long one. Cleese himself only says he and Chapman wrote the Tim sequence, and they thought the name was funny as its likeness to 'timid' and 'timorous' suggests an inherent lack of courage. ('Fantastic' (adjective). Definition: 1 a: Based on fantasy. Not real.) 'What an eccentric performance!' wasn't in the script. Whether Chapman's delivery of that line in the film was ad-libbed, I'm not so sure, but the line seems to have been added/written whilst on location.
