Welcome back to the channel. What a beautiful winter day. In this video, I’m walking in Monkland Village in NDG neighborhood of Montreal. It will be a short walk from Avenue Harvard to Avenue Girouard. I hope you enjoy this walk during a nice snowfall. This video was recorded on December 23, 2020 at around 03:25 pm.

I lived in an apartment above the Monkland Tavern, corner of Old Orchard Ave for 3 years 68-71. I remember the night the new apt building across from us having a huge fire when under construction and waking up at 3.00 a.m. and evacuating our building.

Brings back memories of growing up in Montreal. What I miss most are the restaurants. Great food.

I have been watching these walking films eagerly lately. To be instantly transported into the living environment of another location on earth from the comfort of a temporary settee is truly spell binding, if you can forgive the romantic lilt. You certainly got the snow for it. We here in Scotland used to get snow each Christmas too. Only 40 years ago our winters were as white as these you have today. Be sure to look both ways before crossing the road. Such well iced roads can get very slippy for cars and people alike. God bless

@@GermanKorb Yes it has some nice architecture, what is remaining of it of course. It probably needed a preservation society long before they destroyed some of the centres of the cities here. The replacements were more solid but lacked the intricate design aspects of the originals. They certainly won't be coming back again, not with the same handicraft techniques anyway. Such craftsmanship is very much lost to our people in this day. Economies of scale win with government expenditure plans today?

Not familiar at all with this area but sure picking up vibes of a community spirit. Everything looks welcoming and cozy. Cant say I miss the snow as I moved to Vancouver from Alberta but I’m saving this video just to feel the familiar muffled snowy scene. Well done, thank you

Thank you for your comment. Monkland Village in NDG is very cozy, especially when it's snowing. I heard it can snow any month of the year in Alberta. From AB to BC is a huge difference in weather.

Thanks for the memories! My late husband would ask me to walk down Monkland Village in my skimpy string bikini during snowstorms. It would usually help to stop traffic when we want to cross the street. Once a man who was shoveling cleared the sidewalk for us as we walked down the street. A cup of hot chocolate while walking in a "D' cup was a winter treat for all!!!!!! Happy New Year!
