Montreal has set the standard for the world of the future - with its commitment to biking and public transportation - along with all its other treasures of art, architecture, cuisine and culture. It is everything a city should be, though a milder climate would be aplreciated! Most auS cities are car-clogged nightmares. Portland, OR and Seattle, WA do a pretty good job, along with parts of New England. There are more rails to trails paths, but not much in-city biking, and Americans are rude to bi,especially. For the coat of one beer - and much healthier - you can ride BIXI all day. Such a great way to explore a city. It is all part of what makes Montreal a fabulous World Class City! C'est bon!!

I'm totally addicted to the Lachine Canal bike path!! I ride there as often as I can. Just so beautiful being next to the water, day or night. And just found out that construction of a new REV (the wide unidirectional bike paths described in the video) has begun right next to where I live, on Viger and St-Antoine streets. So stoked! I love my city!! :)

I still remember my first trip down there as a kid, from Lachine all the way to the Old Port. I was exhausted but I loved it♥️

Biking and mass transports is the only viable path for our future, slow things down in the winter and pick it up from april to october, now that will bring us health and harmony.

And this is a city with a brutal long winter - making it even more amazing! When it snows in other cities, you are often grounded, as they do not shovel sidewalks or bike paths, so you can only ride on dangerous congested main roads. J'aime beaucoups Montreal!

@@jeffreykaufmann2867 True enough, but PA and MI are lousy also, anyplace with a bad winter and where salt is used on the roads is bad news for the pavement. NC, GA and CA is where you go for good roads. Been to all 60 states and all but 2 Canadian provinces, and that isxmy assessment. The good news for Montreal is that the Metro is fabu, fabulous, and the bike lanes and walking are a good way to get around, so you can leave the doggone car at home or in the hotel garage.

9:54 Bixi in Montreal was never 5$ per day. It was 5$ for unlimited 30min trips in a 24 hour period. At the end of 30 minutes you needed to bring it back to a dock. Individual trips were a minimum of 5 cents per minute after the 1st 30 minutes so a 1 hour ride would cost you $1.50 extra on top of the initial rental cost. A 10 hour rental would cost an extra 28.50$. I'm sure lots of tourists were shocked to see their credit card statements after their holiday (just look at tripadviser comments). Probably because of upset tourists they have moved to a per minute pricing model since the 2021 season.

wow somebody has got to get that stupid helmet law repealed. That is absolutely nonsense. for one, it's not a threat to third parties so the government really has very little business regulating it. second if you provide good cycling infrastructure like protected bike lanes, there should be little risk. why do you think people don't wear helmets in the Netherlands?
