Manufacture of those engines say to idle down for it to cool down and the engine will last longer.

stator - stationary rotor = rotary

Don't shut it off with decompression lever...no idea why so many people do this. I guess these engines don't come with a manual?

@@integr8er66 "Shut it off" as in turning off the engine (shutting it down) Yes don't open the decomp. lever while running, which actually pushes the exhaust valve down to release compression and can cause valve damage if done at high speeds. The only time it's good to use it is if the engine can't be shut down normally (problem with fuel control)

Any idea what the max watt output that makes? I'd love to make one of these now.

A good generator to hook this engine up to would be a 2500 W

The problem I see is frequency. Diesel engines don't generally run at 3600 rpm, thus you will get a lower frequency than the desired 60hz.lso is there a good RPM feedback mechanism to govern the RPM so it doesn't change under load?

So Amazon said that this engine produces 3hp at 3800 rpm. I set it a 3600 rpm and got 57 htz. So I raised it a little bit until I got 61 htz and that gave me right at 241v and I set it at that. And when I power my well I get 239 v under load. A little hot I know. 😅

I would probably lower the voltage a little bit if I was powering sensitive things, but I use it for powering my well

@@NormanEWilson That's fantastic, I have been interested in doing a diesel generator, but I want a 2 to one ratio so I can run the eng at 1800 rpm. I love the way you made the adapter for the shaft, I was thinking the shaft would be bigger and you would have to take the engine apart to machine the crank. Now that I think about it, I'm really surprised that 3 hp will run your well pump, your water table must not be very far down. How many amps is your pump? Mine is 7 amps running, so at least 14 inrush. and with a 3 hp Chinesium engine I would only expect 2hp tops 🤣

@@integr8er66 my pump pulls like 5 amps. It is a 1/2 horse. And 140ft down I think. About 10-15 GPM with no pressure tank. It was a close fit as far as the shaft goes. I’m glad it was a 20mm shaft otherwise it wouldn’t have fit😅

@@integr8er66 also 1800 rpm would be much better if you could get the power. My engine at 1800 probably wouldn’t have the power HP to run my 2500 wat generator
