    I love what you’ve done with your space for your family! We opted out of the floor bed since we co-sleep but we have a surprisingly similar set up I think for our 2yo. Her nursery includes all of her play things and her bookshelves are traditional but she loves books and will read easily 30 in a day so it works for us. I’ve just begun transforming our kitchen for her too and I love the high chairs you use. I will definitely be looking for one. Thank you for sharing your home with us. ❤️

    Really glad to see you transform what you have to make a Montessori home work! Modeling creative problem solving for your kiddos :) A potty in the room may not be traditional Montessori BUT in a Montessori school, the bathroom is usually quite easily accessible from any room during naps and, of course, the whole building is "child proof". That's definitely not always (or hardly ever) going to be possible in a regular home, so I'd say your set up is as closely aligned as is safely possible at home 🤷🏼‍♀️ LOVE the little fridge idea-that is really taking it to the next step. Kudos to you, mama!

    My twins are approaching their 2nd birthday and we have all stuff locked and hidden away, even all pullers off the drawers because I’m terrified that one will close it and snap the other’s fingers. How do you deal with that? Or I have to hide their chairs and table as they keep climbing in them and push each other off. I too want to do more Montessori approach but not sure how without letting them hurt each other or making the house a mess. I mean those drawers in kitchen and bathroom , all content would be out the entire day! How did you get yours to use these and put away? Great video by the way!

  • @TaraWilloughby

    @TaraWilloughby

    2 жыл бұрын

    My best friend has twins and I think you have to be more strategic with twins. You have two kids at the same developmental stage, that is so much harder! I lock everything up that I don’t want my kids to have access to. This is going to be different for you since you have two. My younger son copies my oldest, so there are things I can do with him that I couldn’t have done with my first at the same age. Start small, and try to stick to a routine, keeps things consistent even if they don’t seem to get it at first, repetition and exposure is key. Children need options, but limited options. And with twins I know that makes things so much harder. It sounds like you are doing amazing! Keep it up and do what works for you! Your mental health is more important than if things are “Montessori”. No one should be having to clean up tons of messes all day to achieve a Montessori home. Follow your children, and start with their interest!

    Hey Tara, you mentioned that you started montessori when your son was 2yo. How did he adapt? Was it a smooth one?

  • @TaraWilloughby

    @TaraWilloughby

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey! It was pretty smooth because I didn’t change everything all at once, it was a gradual process. I started with the playroom and that was probably the hardest part because I started rotating toys and he didn’t understand why some toys were missing. Talking through the process and including them (as much as possible) helps. Most of the other elements were making things more accessible and child friendly, and including him in more daily tasks and decisions.
