As the Summer Spine Sprint draws to a conclusion in the early hours of day two, we see the start of the 268km Montane Summer Spine 2023 which takes on the full length of the Pennine Way. The weather has thrown everything at our runners from sunshine to rainstorms and thunder. Our competitors need to be flexible in their plans and rely on good decision making to get them through to the end. Motivation and excitement rides high for our starters.
The Challenger South winners reach Hardraw and cross over the finish line as the rest of the field battles the unique conditions that the summer event presents. And for the first time in the summer series, the Challenger North race commences. This race takes on the 160 mile Northern section of the Pennine Way from Hardraw to Kirk Yetholm.
