Monster Yellowfin Tuna!!

In this episode of BlacktipH, I go fishing in Louisiana for giant Yellowfin Tuna! The first task that we had to complete was to catch bait for tuna fishing. On our way to the oil rigs, we found a massive school of threadfin herring. We caught a bunch of herring and filled our live wells. We proceeded to drive the Tideline boat further offshore and decided to stop at a buoy. I saw a cobia swimming near the buoy and quickly pitched a bait. The cobia didn't hesitate and inhaled the herring. After a short fight, blake gaffed the 25-30lb cobia. Our first fix was in the box. After catching several more fish, we continued our journey offshore to the tuna grounds. On the way to the oil rig that holds tuna, Casey noticed a floating tree. There were thousands of fish swimming underneath the tree and also two big mahi (dolphin fish). I caught one of the dolphin fish; the other one got away. We noticed some marks on the sonar beneath the tree. I dropped down a vertical jig and hooked a wahoo. After several screaming runs, I managed to capture the wahoo. At this point, I had caught three of the best-eating fish in the world: wahoo, cobia, and dorado. We continued our adventure to the tuna oil rig. Once we got to the oil platform, the sonar was marking a lot of fish! Within a few hours, one of the reels started screaming! It was a monster tuna! After a 45-minute fight, I caught the biggest tuna of my life, a 121lb yellowfin tuna.

Everyone says he needs his own show but as far as I can tell he already has it 👍 notification squad dont miss a single upload keep at it never disappointed
Part of the excitement of fishing is the anticipation of seeing what's on the line. Thank you for NOT showing us the tuna underwater before it gets to the boat. Other shows give it away by showing the tuna down 100 feet, tired and spiraling, and it's like "Oh..." You as a viewer don't get to share in the excitement of the people in the boat who are still waiting to see it. Maybe use that footage afterwords when you're recalling the fight. I did the like the school of fish under the tree however. Great show!

My favorite part of fishing is the adventure of reeling it in and capturing the fish, then deciding to keep it or let it go. However so far I've caught none this year, too early in season. Probably should wait till late June/July.
Man, you are an deadly and talented fisherman, but I most admire your obvious respect and appreciation for the beautiful fish you catch.

Hey man, I just wanted to say I’m probably your biggest fan, sometimes I can hardly bring myself to watch your videos, because I’m so jealous, you live the life that I can only dream of. At least I can see this type of thing going on, I just got back from my first trip to the oil rigs from Destin this past week, thank you so much for all your content. I love all your drone footage, the hammerhead & the black tips, I want to see more drone footage and use of drones for spotting surface activity and top water action. They have tethered drones that can stay up indefinitely with a tether; I’m from Birmingham and never have I had so much passion for the things you get to do on such a regular basis, so jealous man so jealous. First result on google for tethered drones; they can stay up 1000 feet; no pilot, no crows nest, just watching the Marlin about to bite from the goggles or video monitor downlink. I’d love to see you working that tethered drone rig; trolling for marlin watching them hit top water on those $100 squid looking lures using an uprigger. Oh man that would be some priceless footage. Keep up the great work man and I thank you for it!!!

That was one hell of a good day's fishing, Josh! Talk about an epic bunch of fish. Left me wishing those were all going into my freezer, though I've never tried Wahoo or Cobia. I felt your pain man, I was in Panama this April and we landed 59 Yellow Fin Tuna up to 220. We had that same setup that you were using. At times I wanted to just quiet, but my buddies would encourage me to just keep digging down. Love your channel.

Got married 2 years ago. Before the wedding I told her there are 2 things to keep me happy, #1) I must have a boat (I had 2 at the time) and #2) sometimes you gotta let me be me! (Aka party a bit). Been happy ever since! :-)

Dude you are quite impressive, you are the only person i know that can get sea sick, puke, rally and keep fishing like a stud, that's freaking manly, in all my years of being a deck hand as a teenager i saw big tough burly dudes one after another drop like little babies and beg their friends to end the trip early. I just went deepnsea fishing in Hawaii for the first time a couple days ago and caught a 100 pound Ahi as well. Such a huge respect for the fish. They fight and make it fun and hard to reel in. Cheers man! Also I almost threw up like 10 times while on the hook with it. A blessing from the sea

Catching monster fish truly tests your limits! I caught a 243 LB yellowfin tuna in Cabo a few years back. Best part of it was I caught it on 20lb test line…took 7 hours & 50 min to bring him in…every muscle in my body aches for days…

I've only ever fished at lakes with my dad and never caught anything. The old top died over a decade ago and I never went again. I'd love to do it again though and learn to fish like I should of years ago.
